IMO, BRZ will do better over time due to less of them being produced and better internal accessories (leather seats and nav).

when i bought, i never intended on selling, she will be in my stables for a LONG time

but in all seriousness, the BRZ; less of them being made in the us, higher quality, higher msrp, more options, ect, ect

after getting all these ridiculous car of the year awards and whatnot, i'm guessing resale will retain higher than average

Also have to consider with all the CEL, and other "first batch" flaws, 2nd production run and to a greater extent 2014 models will probably hold their value better. If i didn't have one and were buying a used one, i'd be a bit reluctant to buy one of the first. It's still too early to tell, but it does seem like toyota/subaru fixed some of "the problems that dont exist" after the first batch.

I think he means the semi-leather seats, red stitched e-brake boot, HID headlights...etc etc... The premium accessories the FR-S did not provide as an option.

yeah this is what i think too! both cars are built the same way on the same assembly line in the exact same factory.they are '"both" essentially "subarus" my feeling is,they both will retain similar resale value over time because they are, in fact, the "same" car"
now with that said, one wonders IF it is possible the brz,MAY use better quality assembly parts, even though those parts are identical!,as the base price of the brz is MORE than the base price of the frs.i believe the difference in price is applicable to the "audio "head" units installed in each at the factory! comments? opinions?

That's exactly what it is... but also the brand name could maybe affect the price a little... The "Subaru" badging is a little more "premium" in itself.

The limited is a nicer interior, the premium really is not. The FRS floor mats are much nicer than limited or premium as well.

I would guess that both brands will have an affect on resale values. Which will be worth more? Really hard to say, but I would imagine the Premium and FRS being available will bring the Limited resale down and all three will depreciate pretty equally from there.

the things that decide a better price
auto leveling HIDS
interior fabrics
headlight housing
NAV

all those things easily cost 2k alone, the only reason the gap isnt as great
FRS has a better stereo system
springs(different spring rates) the material used is actually more expensive than the BRZ by a margin but still more expensive
plus the first 3 oil changes are on them, easily 100 bucks a change
my dealership is giving me 2 filters free (cabin and engine air filters) not sure if it is the norm but that also is at least 40 bucks

Too early to say. The BRZ is a bit more limited. But Subaru could go the way of Saab. It is a tough future for smaller car companies. Mazda is in deep trouble already. Both firms make great cars, so has nothing to do with quality.
