Can we get a closer look at the A-pillars? It looks like they just chopped and capped them. I think I would like it a little more without the windscreen.

Don't have one, but yes, that is basically what they did as I recall. I remember thinking at the time that it was a total hack job.

Honestly, how much of a tit do you have to be to drive around in one of these things

From SOA:

"The good news is after implementing new safety procedures both of our production facilities are up and running – Gunma on May 11th and SIA on May 18th!
As previously planned, Gunma will add its second shift after June 19; SIA plans to return approaching pre-COVID production levels on June 1 and will be trimming its summer shut down by a couple of days. SBR is diligently working with its supply chain so production can reach capacity levels by the end of June. We are planning for strong and consistent vehicle allocations the last five months of the year.
"

Planning to be back at full production by end of June...

Seems like a pretty standard plan. Was reading this morning GM is adding 2nd an 3rd shifts to their US truck/SUV plants as early as 6/1.

@Tcoat your company seeing orders picking up (assuming you could tell us)?

Yes. The releases for some critical parts used a certain couple of models made at the Gunma plant actually went through this Tuesday for a June 18th drop date. They have a planned end point of July 31 which has not been changed so that looks like the end for those particular trim levels at least. Lines up completely with what was being said. I can't get hard numbers but it looks like there will be somewhere around 3,000 of the certain two cars (in all trims) that will not be built due to the down time. The 2020s for those cars will be rare.

My 2000 Celica has the same shift pattern, but rather than a lockout they just required extra effort to push over to R. And then of course the lovely in cabin beeping reminiscent of a cement truck backing up to alert the driver that they are not in 1st gear.

I don't really remember it causing major issues for people, but I know when I got in the FR-S I was stumped for a few seconds the first time I tried to put it in R. Felt really dumb after I pulled up on the lockout and it popped right over.

Our GMC side hasn't gotten a delivery or Sierra's or Canyon's in 2 months, have less than 15 day supply on the lot...and they are our biggest seller. On a side note we have been receiving a constant supply of Chinese made Buicks that never slowed during the entire pandemic...

How did we survive with 3 speeds in an H pattern without reverse lock? Particularly on the tree.

Fewer gears fewer chances of misshifting.

All the manual cars I drove and owned had some kind of reverse lockout - 5 gears would typically have the reverse in the 6th gear place (under 5th gear) with a lockout preventing shifting from 5th to reverse (have to return to neutral for that). The rest had either a pull up reverse lockout (like in the Twins) or a push down on the lever lockout.
When I test drove a manual G70 before getting the BRZ, it had reverse to the left of 1st gear, without a lockout - just needed to push left extra hard. I found downshifting from 3rd to 2nd a pain since I kept going to the reverse gate. I guess I could have gotten used to it if I owned the car, but that was super annoying.

That's how BMW rolls too, you get used to it quickly.
