I emailed the dealer today and got this:
We have secured the GT Manual in Pegasus White for you. At this stage, the VEhicle is docking in Melbourne on the 17th of June, which usually means we would see it around the 26th of June. Pricing will not be available until the official release date of around the 10th of June. The latest Edition of Wheels magazine gives the car a fantastic report, if you read it you'll see what you've got to look forward to. |

I can confirm that my local dealer wont be offering any sort of discounted finance options. No 2.9% not 3.9% at best using my house as a guarantee i would get 8.9%. As mentioned, equity on a homeloan would be the best bet in the beginning. |

86 GT MT - $29,990 86 GT AT - $32,490 86 GTS MT - $35,490 86 GTS AT - $37,990 Auto is an extra $2500 over the manual counterparts and the GTS model is $5500 over the GT model. The only cars on my list which have similar pricing scales are the Prius V (Prius Alpha), Prius C and Rav4. Based on everything else on the list, the pricing for the 86 is nothing short of amazing. That being said, the auto and GTS specs were a little higher than I had predicted but that's probably where Toyota is planning on making their money (on extras!). Now that the official pricing is released however, I guess there's not really any need for this thread any longer. Thanks to everyone who helped me generate this spreadsheet, pointing out mistakes or helping me get RRP's of vehicles. Last edited by Netrosis; 06-06-2012 at 04:20 AM. |

I'd hate to blow your bubble, but the way the price was calculate has nothing to do overseas pricing EVER for any Toyota vehicles. The way you guessed the pricing is impressive but I can guarantee with 110% certainty that it was a purely coincidental. Pricing for any Toyota vehicles in Australia takes into account factors relevant for the Australian market only. What US, Europe or Japan does is up to them and totally irrelevant for Australia. Just like how iPhones sell in the US has nothing to do with Australia, China, Japan, Britain etc. If pricing was based around overseas pricing, then it would be a much easier job to make up.

Why is the manual GTS + 5500? That seems a lot for drive away.
At that price I might consider the GT I think. |

Nardi is correct. I was showing how much more it was than the base model
I have edited the post to make more sense. Quote:
Thought that still would have been inaccurate since we had no idea whether Toyota was going to try and gouge the market like the Mazda MX-5 or stay true to the idea of "affordable sports coupe". It did tell me that the chances of it being a high RRP like $40k were unlikely (but then so was an RRP of $30k). I also thought it was a bit more interesting than just trying to randomly guess the price, and I figured I should share my results if others were interested. |
