Max doesn’t drive clean. He has the same number of points on his license as Grojean did at his worst. He’s nicknamed Crash Verstappen for a reason but - he drives this way for a reason.
He gets away with it. His “missing of apexes”, with the exception of Brazil, is legal. Pushing someone wide or off track is LEGAL so long as he stay within racing boundaries. F1 and most formula series in Europe, have dumbass rules about corner ownership that causes this crap. Next year I would like to see more drivers stand their ground against Max and after enough retirements, or points on his license, RB may tell him get his shit together.

Keep in mind, Max lives in a world where Hamilton can send him off the track at ~200mph at a cost of 2 penalty points and nothing else. Hamilton isn't any cleaner, just better at playing the victim. Last edited by Spuds; 12-29-2021 at 05:32 PM. Reason: Grammar |

I look at this as a racer myself, not a fan of either driver. I think to say Hamilton is better at playing a victim is fanboi-ism and the points on the license illustrate that. My toddler cries less than Horner and Max. While all the drivers on the grid are involved in collisions at some point, the difference is that Max is willing to "put it in" and "leave it in" regardless of the outcome and that's the difference. This is a form of Big Dogging (Dale Earnhardt was a master of this) because it gets in the heads of the other drivers. I too had to "drive like lewis" at several races last year because I knew there were other drivers on the track that are willing at any moment to go "full send" into the side of my car to advance their position (and 1 did, costing me many thousands). Back to Lewis... Lewis "stuck it in" at silverstone, realized it wasn't going to work and tried to bail (he recognized the mistake). I *believe that Max committed either because he felt Lewis had bailed enough or didn't care. If the roles were reversed, Max would make no attempt to bail - that's the difference. This is how Max has driven throughout his career though - he has a long standing reputation in this regard that comes from being coached by his a wife beater...er, I mean, his Dad - a driver with a similar crash-to-win reputation. Max is the Miata of the F1 grid.

Someone mentioned F1 in January? Hey! You woke me up from my hibernation. HAM still seems to be doing his hermit thing. They launch the new MERC car on Feb 18th. Should hear from Him and team on March 18th (End of the FIA investigation)? Getting ready to lookie at 23 races this year. Really hoping to get a nice week at my local island race if it happens. Hopefully the Aussies and Miami will get to view a home race as well this year. 1st race march 20 th weekend Bahrain. Not only cars have changed look but will be running new Tire size/specs s well. Few drivers’ changes. George, Bottas and returning Albon on new teams, G.Zhou will be picking up some Italian with Alfa. McLaren may be looking at a new power plant with VW/Audi for the future. About those new rules… M.Masi is still around, rules will be open to an “at the moment interpretation” I presume… |

Predictions:
RB Will win Drivers and Constructors just because of Newey and the new car designs. RB car will be the best car aerodynamically. Merc 2nd cause power. Maybe a mid season push when everyone starts to copy things of other cars. 3rd ??? |

All bets are off, big rules changes mean anyone can grab the lead;
'09 Brawn/Red Bull '14 Merc Nobody would have predicted their dominance the year before. And with a new wheel/tire any driver could come into their own or struggle to figure it out. I.E. Raikkonen was never quite the same after Michelin withdrew, RoGro never liked the hybrid era brakes, Vettel with exhaust blown diffuser, DannyRic at Mclaren, etc. |

My crazy, before we know anything, prediction is McLaren will take constructor's championship but not driver's. I think Verstappen will be champion again.

So it doesn't happen again The FIA didn't follow their own restart procedure and potentially affected a race and championship outcome. That needs addressed for the integrity of the sport.
As of now I plan to pay more attention to Indy Car and continue to wonder why Colton Herta doesn't get more mention when the subject of "what American drivers could make it in F1" conversation.

Less than a month for 1st test. I'm still waiting for the new season of Drive to Survive because it will very interesting to see what happened backstage at Silverstone and the last 3 races.
