For the MT, what do Track and Sport modes actually do?

I've watched every video review I can find but don't see an explanation for this other than the dash display changes.

What do Track and Sport modes actually do for the manual transmission models other than change the dash display?

Don't believe there's a sport mode on the MT, just track mode. Track mode allows more slip angle in the Vehicle Dynamics Control before making corrective actions. You can get more sideways than full tc/vdc, but it'll bail you out if you cross the line.

From my testing with a '17 BRZ PP, it really feels like it kicks in based on rate of change on yaw as opposed to just total yaw, as I was able to hold some pretty crossed up slides at a track day without interference from the car. So if the '22 system is similar, it's a nice learning tool for people new to track driving.

I think sport mode is just on ATs and affects shifting habits of the car.

I believe for both MT and AT, sport mode/ track mode give you partial full control of the vehicle with some level of assist if things go south. Compared to pedal dance mode where you are in full control of the vehicle.

"Sport" is on the early generation, AT and MT. "Track" is on the facelift generation, also AT and MT. They both turn off Traction Control but retain some Stability Control. Track is just a little looser with the interference, lets you slip a little more than the early cars. There is a thread about swapping ABS modules between the two that has better information.

You can also defeat (almost) all traction control by holding down the Traction button correct? In the MT equipped cars. And there is a pedal dance that really disables everything on the first gen. Interesting to see if the second gen will allow the same. I never had the need to disable everything, but I think some guys/gals like to do that on track.

On the Kouki 17+,

Normal mode - you swing it into a corner, it slides for like a foot then traction control steps in to "catch" you. Feels like mom pulling on your shift before you run off.

Track mode gives you more slip time (not distance) before it steps in and "catches" you.
Also opens up the throttle more. idk maybe placebo effect.

Hold down traction control for 5 seconds and its all off. Like the pedal dance on the Zenkis. Pure hoonery.

I thought the Pedal Dance also disabled ABS.

Where holding the Traction button does not.

I think you’re referring to mode 4 (see 1st post in the link). The only difference between Zenki and Kouki cars here is that the brake LSD is now off on Koukis. There is some lack of consensus on whether the traction and stability control are actually off or on a really low interference setting. Problem is that only Subaru has the testing hours (and equipment) to know for sure. Then again for most people the difference on the 2017+ cars between mode 4 and pedal dance is imperceptible either way. Pedal dance is for sure 100% off.

Ah, yet another thread on this topic.
We should really just have a wiki for things like that: a lot of people not knowing stuff, the stuff being complicated, and virtually nobody actually remembering all the exact details.

I believe pedal dance also turns off EBD?
Surprised that thread doesn't mention EBD on its first page.

Electric brake distribution. Moves brake bias around based on a joke number of factors.

No. No way to disable abs short of pulling the fuse.
