Turning Off Fake Engine Sound

Has anyone figured out how to turn off the fake engine noise? Permanent is okay.

Thanks guys, somehow I missed that. All I've heard is complaints about it and the difference in AT/MT. I never click those "What did you do to your *** today" threads. Figured it's all PPF installs and intake painting.

It could be dangerous if you get a sloppy tech. Might end up with FWD.

I wonder if we can use OBD coding to change the volume, since the autos have 2 available volume levels.

I’m wondering how hard it is to physically extract the hardware from the car. Thinking I can rig the sound generator up to my home security system with a raspberry pi to become a sort of repulsor alarm.

If anyone can do a video on a stock car of in cabin sound with ASC both on and disabled it would be appreciated! That video above is not helpful in this regard due to the loud aftermarket exhaust the car has.

Nice find, I was really wanting to see a side by side comparison video with all things equal (same recording device and position basically) but didn’t want to bug anyone to do that. Seems the fake noise isn’t very active at all under 4 or 5k anyhow.

Thanks @azndavepgh, that video was great.

To me the car sounds much better without the augmentation (which I find quite unpleasant), although a bit too quiet perhaps. Toyota/Subaru should have just amplified the full spectrum real sound rather than adding that completely synthesized overlay that doesn't match the native sound at all.
