all i know is i'm not topping $100 in parts. if this replacement carb doesn't fix the issue, i'm throwing a new motor at it. that puts my overall cost at around $270, which is just about half the cost of a new one.

Just buy a new one, swap the motor, then return it. "Doesn't want to run, decided to go a different direction."

If you really want a refresher...

Tldr:. Misfiring caused by a damaged coil pack that I missed on first look, thinking it was a fuel problem for a while.

Finally bought a new battery at Costco today. Maybe I'll put it in tomorrow.

Yea. Looks just like a Costco anywhere else.

Your photo makes me almost miss the old days when the corner parts store was a happening place. Hell, you went there every 3000 miles for points, condensor, rotor, cap, plugs, fuel filter, oil filter, air filter and oil. That was if everything was going well. Good times.

Not bad. We've had some ups and downs with a couple health related things but everything else has been pretty good.

He's currently losing his puppy teeth and fortunately I've found a few and decided to keep them (I don't know if that makes me weird or not ). But that means he's also teething, so that's been interesting.

Sooo true -

In addition, the store/shop where I used to go as a kid, also had a small machine shop in the back, that would grind valves and mill heads.

Also, they were a source of information. For example, they introduced me to the plastic wire/tape to gauge how to shim piston rod bearings and to a miracle device to compress piston rings, so as to get the pistons back into the cylinders -

Fortunately *knock on wood* he's been pretty great with not destroying anything.

The most he's done was nibble a corner of my coffee table the first or second week I had him, and then about a month or two ago he nibbled part of a baseboard.

I try to leave out plenty of toys with different textures and supervise a lot. It makes my floor a bit messier than I prefer but I figure for right now it's not a terrible idea because then he's hopefully more interested in chewing that stuff since it's easily available. He's pretty well-trained (for now, anyway) not to nibble on things he shouldn't.
