Hardware and Install Notes:

Took roughly 8 hours. We spent more time trying out different hose routing ideas to see which one would end up cleaner. The included binder is through, though I'd have to say that they need a HD version with LARGER pictures for old tired eyes like mine! As a professional installer, when I say this kit installation is a trouble-free experience, I mean it! It's uncharacteristic for kits these days to have ZERO installation issues; all the kits out there have some quirks, but this one really is trouble-free, especially for an early production model (very FIRST batch!)

You might have heard about it, maybe even seen it on the teaser schematics. There's an actual HEAT EXCHANGER built into the system! Unlike the others with just an air-intercooled offering, Edelbrock had elected to employ an air-water solution that while doesn't eliminate heat (not possible,) defrays and mitigates it as long as possible and gives you much better endurance in a high performance situation than others using conventional / typical intercooler designs.

^^^ 286WHP / 213#WTQ - This Ain't No Slouch!

As I escorted the customer home after the event, I had him do a series of drive-bys (or fly-bys?) I'd have to say, if butter had a sound, it would be called Edelbrock! So smooth and as one female in the convoy would say - "sounds like it's purrring!"

With the aforementioned super efficient heat exchanger, you're guaranteed more endurance than with the other kits. Those in dry / humid conditions take note - you'd WANT this kit. Folks in constant gridlock would benefit from this too!

Cheers!

Great - thanks for this... I've been looking around for a while, and hoping to get one of these early 2016.
Planning on installing myself (with 1 more person to help) - so the notes are definitely welcome, and great pics.

Can't wait to feel the extra torque of this bad boy, and living in a fairly warm and dry climate... I'm super excited

Our gas is a bit worse than yours, so I might not match the power, but it'll be comparable to any other kit anyway (i.e. any kit will lose a bit cos of the fuel!)

Can't wait to fit mine! Now I gotta add a few bucks to the budget for a clutch!!

A Q on this kit...

On normal fuel what have you seen i.t.o fuel consumption changes?
(I know it depends on how your drive etc, but interested to know).

e85 would then reduce it by another 20% or more, so it could end up with me driving garage to garage

How much you think you would have gained if you didn't have the stock OP and FP (Catless)? Those numbers are just sexy

About 30+% for E85 actually. I don't know what the actual fuel rating is over there in SA, but we're running 95-ish RON in cooler temps here. You should be able to see similar performance given your heat and humidity with 100 RON.

As long as you're not constantly accelerating or getting on your gas, your fuel consumption should be more or less the same. At cruise, at least a good 29 - 30 miles per gallon, whatever that works out to be in metric.

Problem is, once you have all this power and torque, you're going to be on it. ALL.THE.TIME.

+4 to 7 WHP with a slight reduction in torque...

This couldn't be more true lol. I averaged 33.5mpg on a 5 hour trip home from the mountains. And around town I bet I could probably get decent mileage. But it's just SO easy to be on it constantly. And let me tell you....in boost, she's THIRSTY.

No offense but this is a sports car not a Prius. Gas mileage is directly proportional to your right foot.

That is correct. That and the fact that we found ourselves in need of a clutch. #TooMuchPowah.

Hey Bob,

I know everyone is peak number hungry, but out of curiosity, did you happen to do an initial dyno run with the canned Edelbrock tune on the car? I'd be curious what that looked like with your exhaust setup since the Edelbrock posted numbers with a stock exhaust should be somewhere in the 240whp range.

Thanks!

Being on the gas allllll the time = self inflicted fun
Glad to know it would be similar otherwise.
We have 93/95 here, but I believe it's not as good as your 91. Not sure exactly how they measure it.

Really can't wait for next year to get this kit!

I agree... But if it's going to mean spending all my time at the garage filling up then it would just be easier to buy another car.
I (sadly) spend a bit of time in traffic and have to drive to work etc...

Not on this car, but I did it on the first one and it was as advertised. Being that we use 92 in cooler climates, we were in the 250s IIRC? Edelbrock has mentioned that they had an updated calibration but I never got one from them to test out on #2 - not that it was needed since it was the custom tune that yields the power and performance.

Regards!

Thanks Bob! I'm running a Perrin OP, HKS Mid, HKS Spec-L on 93 octane in NY. Was wondering what to expect out of the box, if the computer would adapt a little higher before any custom tuning. Only hoping for 250-255whp while keeping Edelbrock's warranty.

That's very likely since we were close at those power levels with pump Chevron 92.

Were stock injectors and FP used for both cars that were tuned?
