245 or 255 bad tires + light rims = 225 mid-gripy tires + normal rims?

This thread might be kinda abnormal.

Is It A Good Idea to Use FAT but BAD All-season Tire? "BAD" means as bad as our OEM tires.

I am using 225/40R18 Eagle GT on 18X8.5 Rota Grids now and thinking to upgrade to 18X9.5 TE37SL with 245/35 or 255/35 tires.
To be honest, wider wheels just for look.

I know for stock power, this car does not need fat tires. 225 might be one of the best choices.
But if I get lighter rims, can I use BAD 245 tires to get the same performance as 225 do?

So, to make the question simple:

245 or 255 bad tires + light rims = 225 mid-gripy tires + normal rims?

One of the most important reasons that I do not like fat tire is rotary resistance. Also, it might be hard to kick the rear out with fat tires. I did this frequently and love it.

BTW, any bad 18'' tires recommended..?..

will be perfect if they last long, perform well during rain and snow days but BAD during summer.

My answer is no. I put 245 40 Nitto motivos on the back of my car. I had 225 45 Michilen Pilot Sport A/S plus on the front. The tires caused the car to oversteer. I replaced the Nittos with MPSS in the same size. The car now drives perfect. Tires are everything.

225 good tire = More grip than 245 OK tire.

I think your answer is yes. hah.

I m thinking to run wide tire but do not need too much grip.
so 245 bad tire can be as grip as 225 tire if they are really bad.
