Maxracing dynamic intake duct
Il like that dynamic intake hose a lot. Show it in Thailand Option mag this month
Think at high speed to give significant HP gain because of the frontal air pressure. http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fb...type=1&theater http://www.maxracing.co.jp/maxhp_v11...ke/intake.html Last edited by Guff; 11-11-2012 at 11:42 PM. |

Depends on how fast your talking about. I had a ram air setup on my Mustang, with a scoop that bolted under the leading edge of the bumper. I hooked a U tube manometer up to the airbox, and at 100 MPH it pressurized the airbox a whopping 4 inches of water, which is about .2 PSI. I seriously doubt this will give you much extra horsepower until you were going a lot faster. It mainly helped by ducting colder air from outside, but these cars already pulled from the incoming air in front of the radiator instead of from inside the engine compartment.

I really don't see this adding anything significant.. The Stock system is very close to the same thing as this... The added ducting negates the RAM effect of the intake, and both are pulling cooler air... ... On a different car this would be tits... but i doubt this will add any kind of measurable HP.

+0,2 psi is big number because you based line is not 0 psi but some vacuum number.
intake is under vacuum from engine so anything positive is huge gain. Or i get that wrong? |

I can only imagine this would increase the chance of hydrolocking

Well, you figure that an n/a motor has roughly 14.7 PSI(at sea level) pushing air into the cylinders when the valves open. So another 0.2 PSI really won't make that much difference. This is simplifying things greatly, but the basic concept is the same. Think about how much boost is needed to make more HP. 4 PSI will make, what, around 70-80 HP over stock? So 0.2 might make 5 HP more or so.

I don't like the way it blocks so much of the heat exchangers from the cooling airflow or how low it is in case of a bow wave in deep water.
If the air is taken from a high pressure area, without blocking the cooling flow, it will aid the aerodynamics[slightly] and give a little bit of boost. The Toyota front end looks like it flows better than the BRZ and should duct good airflow. The area above and in front of the HE'rs should work well, without dropping it down low. |

I wanna see what it looks like with the bumper on :o
and I wanna see someone make a bumper air duct like a 350z, less chance of sucking up water, wonder if it would look good on a BRZ or FRS bumper |

The only problem with that is you need to add a drain for the water when it's raining which removes any boost effect.

At WOT you'll be running 0 vacuum, engines only get into vacuum when the throttle plate is partially (or fully) closed.
