Well they are slowly changing over to beet juice to reduce the salt required but that will take decades.

Not many people are aware of that. It's very effective and can be applied before a snowfall.

mine was the same, even worse. I used scotch brite for remove rust and high temperature silver paint that I applied with a brush and now it looks better than the original

In my area they dump this green crystalline stuff on the roads, the stuff that sells for $35/bucket at Canadian Tire.

That's my tax dollars working for me.

That won't rust through in 25 years. Hell, I doubt it would in a life time. there is nothing holding moisture there to continue the process. Surface rust can appear after one brief exposure to moisture but deep structural rust requires a near constant exposure.
Oh, I am aware normal people can accomplish that...I just tend to get in a hurry and break stuff and make it worse lol.

I once broke my windshield when I was taking off my windshield wipers on the old MR2 to re-paint them.

I will never forget doing that...because my Wife knows about it...and she reminds me lol.

But yeah, I was just cautioning against being too aggressive.
