Thats really cool though - flying as a job seems like it would be fun. Then again, in a plane with high explosives, not so much.

Badass status

Battlefield is life, but airsoft is still so much fun. And, on the topic of sweat, it is great exercise if you actually play the game.

Same old POS plane - different mission - replace bombs with wicked sensitive radios. You get the picture...

...actually, here, read the opening paragraph. If it grabs your interest enough, I was on that last 1988 detachment.

That does sound like a fun job..

In one day my mental picture of you went from a 25 year old, 5' 10", 180lb computer tech, to a badass 45+, 6' 5" ex-airman with 8 years service. Shows how good I am at reading people...

So you flew reconnaissance missions? Enforced the Iraq no-fly zone?

Sorry to pry, I just think that is some really interesting stuff. You can PM me if you would rather.

I'm sure you're fine. Reading people face-to-face is tough enough. Forget about all this forum BS.

...

Heh, stumbling over our own edits...

Most of the stuff never made the news. Just know there is a HELL of a lot more back-channel shit going on than you could ever imagine. It's all ugly. Turned me into a die-hard pacifist.

One word of heartfelt advice. NEVER thank a vet for his/her service. Maybe that sounds weird but I have to swallow hard whenever I get that.

Ok, let's get back to posting stupid shit.

Well can I thank you, honestly, for your sacrifice? For stepping up and taking that burden, making the sacrifice, so that I don't have to, and can go about my life without having to worry about mandatory service? IMO - you deserve that, not a sterile "thank you for your service", without any meaning. I don't want to be offensive, or crude, by any means, but if I actually do want to express thanks, how should I do that?

Anywho - back to posting nonsense :P

See, that's the thing, The overwhelming majority of kids enlist because it's the best option at that time in their lives. Maybe some of it involves drinking the Kool Aid or because it's a family tradition, but that's a small minority.

Uncle Sam takes the healthiest and hungriest, feeds them, clothes them, and trains them to go enforce the national policy du jour. I don't regret any of it. It opened my eyes to the big picture. I did my thing until I could no longer ignore my conscience. I had grown up. That's it.

Although it will never happen, mandatory service or a draft would be the quickest way to cure us of all this "Murica!" bullshit.

...

Oh, sorry. To answer your question, there is no way. It's distasteful. Just don't do it. You'll understand as you get older.

It would be bullshit if you are banned over that, but I doubt you will be.

Anyways, that makes sense. Thank you for the clarification I will keep the thanks in my head

I've played Paintball but for literally sport as in for speed ball it's fun and has it's way of play.

Airsoft is cool but never bought a gun for airsoft, the day I was going to buy an Airsoft AR15 was the day I was introduced to Mr. AR Lower receiver. Since then, I started going to the range from time to time and send 5.56 FMJ's at targets.

If your going to buy an Airsoft Gun you're actually better off just getting an AR15 you will learn a lot more! Get's costly though the ammo gets expensive!

Thanks for your servicing moms.

I haven't ever tried airsoft. I've done paintball once. It was warm but I was smart, loose clothes, long sleeves. One guy I went with wore shorts and a sleeveless shirt. He was covered in bloody welts after a couple of hours...
