Now I think he could have phrased that as "Since the 50s" to be more accurate.. but of course Porsche would be included in that, as would Ferrari. Bugatti of course is an example of someone making sports cars long before Chevy.. but they've also died a few times... so not sure I would call them consistent..

But back on topic: I really wish I knew whether or not I am going to like the next gen platform. When will the real leaks start? Given the "slide show" saying a 2021 rollout as a 2022 model, I would expect some spy shots/leaks by now.

Perhaps they just skinned the test mules like a Corolla or Impreza to avoid drawing attention to them? Depending on which platform it's on of course.

Or does Toyota simply turn over all the design documents and models for the TNG platform to Subaru and let them build prototypes...

Kinda depends on what one means by a broad range of products though.. if one has to include pickup trucks, sure.

But recalling back to the 2013MY IIRC the first real info was discovered in late 2011.. and the first cars were delivered to the US in what.. Jan or Feb of 2012? I got mine in May 2012 and some on the west coast got theirs months before mine arrived.

Now, you can't get more "broad ranged" then that, eh? |

Oops! I typed that. BTW - Perhaps your response is the counterpoint to @Dadhawks 's proposition that GM was the only broad range car manufacturer that has had a commitment to sports cars over the last 50 years...

Really? I thought it was announced that the next gen was moving to the Toyota TNG platform?
Upon a quick search this seems to have started with a "unnamed source" at Subaru talking to Motor1... Oh well. Now I know even less than I thought about the next gen.

There has been no press release from either company with that info as far as I can recall so to say that it was "announced" is not true.

More than one say "will" along with "Turbo". They enjoy their fiction.
