Exhaust / header ceramic coating smell??

So a few of you might remember my ACE a350 exhaust/header leak thread a month or two ago, where I left at testing the leak with a smoke machine. Well, I built the smoke machine but due to life circumstances I was never able to get under the car and test for leaks. However, after two or three months of driving my car the smell is gone!! After first installing the headers I retightened everything but the smell was still there, so I thought I might have torqued the gaskets unevenly or something, but now there is not even a trace of smell.

I was wondering if the smell could have been the ceramic coating gassing off or something? The coating was applied by a shop the previous owner used, not by CSG, but has anyone with the CSG ceramic coating (or your own coating) experienced something similar? Bought the headers second hand but they were new never used when I got them.

Yeah new parts like that smell sometimes. You're getting it really hot so I'd expect some heat curing. I love problems that fix themselves lol

Don't we all.

Or maybe I'm a exhaust fume junkie and can't smell it anymore

Yeah the stuff stinks. Header wrap also is fairly pungent and takes a couple weeks of heat cycling to kill off

Glad to hear I'm not (too) crazy. I'm also happy I kept the stock FP, it does a really good job of absorbing the smog smells, as well as potential drone.

There was an awful smell from my header due to Cerakote I had applied at a local shop, but it also eventually went away, thankfully.

How long did it take to go away?

About two weeks and roughly 100 miles.
