it happens... Also I would not try to daily drive these tires. Your really going to eat into the amount sessions you can run. If you need a full time tire IMO there are better and cheaper tires out there.

Definitely! This is sort of a one time situation because I found them on clearance and I wasn't ready at that point to invest in a good set of track wheels. I made the decision that I was fine with a couple of track days and some street miles and they'd likely be dead at the end of the season.

FWIW, my car is technically a daily, but I average around 250-300mi a month because my wife and I both WFH and we mostly take her Durango everywhere.

I've autocrossed several sets of RE71R's. It isn't uncommon for them to groove like that early on. It tends to even out as the tire wears more.

Do people run the same pad compound front / rear on these cars, or is staggered the norm?

Front same/rear is common. A small handful run reverse stagger, but this is extremely situational.

Thank you, I wasn't sure if there was anything specific that angered the electronics.

I'm coming from land of turbo Miata with R18/R12 on the big Trackspeed Engineering Wilwood front and Sport rears with a bias valve. E46 M3 ABS is currently going into it.

I don't intend to track the BRZ a lot but I figured I should have a set of pads for the occasional event where I don't need to run the Miata for TT.

Pedal dance, and you should be good to go.

Gloc pads are available for this platform, although based on your post, I suspect you'll find yourself wanting more.

More in terms of heat range, or more in terms of energy capacity for rotor/pad longevity (bbk)?

Trying to keep it realistic when swapping between a competitive TT4 car versus a TT5 street car, but we both know how that goes.

Capacity. Based on your turbo Miata description, sounds like you're pretty quick, and will need the equipment to support your pace.

PM me when you're ready to make a move and we'll discuss to determine what's proper for you, and get you set up.

Did you buy Brock's car?
If you're going to track it, even a little bit, the BBK may be worth it if you're used to running a TT4 miata. On the stock brakes on these cars, depending on the track, you can eat up a set of pads in 2-3 weekends. If autocross only and occasional track use, get a compound you like and keep the calipers stock and you'll probably be fine for a while unless you decide that bolting 245 R7's on the car is fun (it is) and that you want to run TT5 some lol

Haha, I did. I didn't bother replying to the RRAX Buy/Sell thread given the tone of some of the other people.

The Miata is the competitive car, but I still want to be able to take this thing out to a few casual events a year. I'm leaning towards buying a set of F/R pads and sticking to places like Chuckwalla that don't eat brakes (just tires).

Considering a tire change...

I do about 6 HPDE's a year, just for fun, and run stock power levels.

I have TRD lowering springs and Pedders offset tophats so I am just about -2 camber all the way around.

I currently run Pilot 4s tires (225/45/17), however I find them a little slippery as my times have improved...

I am looking for recommendations on a compromise tire for dual use... is there something better than the 4s?

Price does not matter much, however I don't want to be buying new tires every year if I am only street driving under 5000 miles/year...

Is it practical/reasonable to street a 200 treadwear tire in a warm, dry climate (e.g. San Diego)?
