Couldn't help but take some photos of the new setup. Still torn on if I want to run the oem grill or not. Cutting the tabs would make the grilless look permanent, but can't bring myself to do it.

Bonus shot of one of my favorite parts of the car, the oem audio plus set up with custom 10 series inspired logo.

Approaching the final form of this car (has been said before). Finally sold my carbon wing and sbc rpf1's I've been hoarding. Used those funds and paint matched my seibon hood and trunk. Ultimately, I always preferred the oem+ sleek look of no wing and matching panels. (Not pictured) Installed my FBM Aluminum radiator and made some race holes in the oem crash bar for more airflow to radiator/ac condenser.

Being from Houston, TX it's always been a dream of mine to drive the 86 on the streets of LA and along Angeles Crest Canyon. Last week I was given the opportunity to do so, when I was invited by Superstreet & Motortrend magazine to participate in their annual Show Car Shootout. They invited 8 show cars with minimal track experience to receive instruction from the likes of Dai Yoshihara & Steve Arpin. The ultimate goal was to improve your own driving knowledge, limits, and overall time. My fastest times within the 3 sessions (1st session 1:53, 2nd session 1:46, 3rd session 1:39). Not the fastest, but it was definitely an experience I'd do again in a heartbeat.

Arriving at our airbnb, my friends eg is also from Houston. He was suppose to participate in the FF battle also sponsored by SS. Unfortunately he was involved in a hit & run the night before on a highway in LA. (race gas = highly flammable)

Cruising Angeles Crest

My friend helping me prep and apply the showcarshootout vinyl.

On the streets of willow (I need dampening in my life)

Mazda sponsored the new Miata for the pro drivers to provide "ride-alongs". Eneos' sponsored 86 in full force.

Pictured with my personal coach for the day, the one and only Dai Yoshihara.

Leaving the streets of willow after a long day. Overheated 2x, Federal RSR's done, ate sidemarkers and some oil. But she survived without flying off of the track.

Keep a lookout for the feature on the event coming sometime soon in the latest issue of Superstreet!

Life happened for me in 2018 in several ways. Did not attend any shows, but did manage to make it out to the biggest car meet of the year for Houston (Mayday Garage's infamous Wekfest Pre-meet). Side note, my motor of 97k miles was somehow flooded/blown when it arrived back from LA on transport. Was working when SS loaded to ship it back to Houston. Some time in between, the transporter damaged the vehicles motor. Lots of back story, that I don't plan on typing out in regards to the bs transporter. I have sinced swapped out a 59k mile motor in and plan on building the blown one.

Latest additions to the car.

JDM TRD horn button

Voltex Type 1s Carbon Wing (always been against big wings, but I love it and never going back.)

Life is good.

Went to get breakfast, and ended up aimlessly driving around the city. To think I almost totaled this car out when the transporter returned my car with the motor flooded.

Got rid of the CAI, went for straight turbo w/ an added turbo guard and eventually a velocity stack. Also running a D3PE oil catch can I was able to pick up for stupid cheap during their local fire moving sale.

Pics loading..

I was fine with the carbon csl trunk alone and paint matched, but damn the voltex 1s just grew on me and it fit the rest of the car so well.

Although this build has slowed down, it seems to never end lol. As of recently I have installed the following.

-Kartboy short shifter
-Mtec shift springs
-Polyurethane shifter bushing
-D3PE oil catch can w/ AN fittings

*THE SHIFTER MODS SHOULD HAVE BEEN THE FIRST MODS I DID* my god, I love the driving experience it adds.

Some pics of the fall/winter vibe we get down here in Houston, TX. Also my buddy @ Andysoun recently painted his rare ae86 garage zeal kitted hachi. Please excuse the iphone quality, didn't have my proper camera on me while exploring the city.

Slight update to this forever build.

-Got a secondhand moto east flex fuel kit that I could not pass up.

-Retuned on 93/and now e85 for a full flex fuel map. Previously was 230whp on 93. Now the car is at 306whp/245tq on 93 and 342whp/275tq on e85 @12psi. Got tuned at a local shop here in Houston called CP Motorsports (would recommend 10/10). Disclaimer, I could have made more power but I specified to the tuner that I did not want to push the stock internals to their limits. 342whp is more than enough for me on this platform imo. At this point the drive-ability and aesthetics for the car is everything I could ask for.
