Having trouble with code u0155

hey guys i have a 2013 BRZ with about 129k miles on it and i am having some troubles with the u0155 code. What happens is i dont get the code if i dont use cruise control or sport mode. if i turn on cruise control, it will work for about 5 mins and then the car will just freak out and go into limp mode and i cannot turn off cruise control and i get and engine light with the code u0155. the cruise control light will stay orange until i unplug the battery. it also happens when i put the car in sports mode. what will happen there is i put it into sport mode and after about ten mins, limp mode and engine light again with code u0155. my question is has anyone had this issue? could it be a bad wiring harness? maybe a bad ecu? grounding issue? where should i start to figure this out? thanks fellas.

do you have something obd2 connected?
probably is that, and if yes, you need a better quality device

I had a similar problem (can't remember code) but went away once I disconnected the OBD2 device. Like the other person said, it might be related.

IMO, leave the OBD2 device disconnected when not in use.

really really stupid long shot, but if have you checked that all the brake lights work? had a car that would disable cruise if the brake filaments burned out, or had led bulbs/housings installed without load balancers.

the only other thing i can think of that would be related to both sport mode(the paddles) and cruise control could be the clock spring wiring.

easiest step there might be to trace down and disconnect that clock spring connector and see if the problem continues

You're right, parts never ever fail in unintended ways, ever.

It's not even irregular to see one fail, happens pretty often regardless of make and model

sounds like something wasn't making a good connection in that wiring you pushed on.
