Then, added marble tile below. This added more weight and the pool over time has gone crooked.

I helped him install the tile but that's it so I don't have much experience in this. But, I would definitely reinforce things. Just in case...

P.s. his home was built in 1957. Pool was put in the 1960's. Rebuilt in 1984 and then 2011 with me. Oh and his house is on a hill.
Well, this pool will come down during the winter.

Our lot is on a slight hill ...... so, if I put in on the ground, I would have to dig out one side ....... that gives me an idea ....... if my son-in-law is not comfortable having the pool on the deck ....... he can dig out the area for the pool to be on the ground..........ol humfrz is always thinking .....

OR ....... maybe just bag the whole project and have ma-ma take the kids up to the clubhouse and they can swim in that pool ....... while I take a peaceful nap .......

@humfrz the wife will be happy, and so will the grandkids in a few years when they can borrow pop pop's spa to invite some friends over.

If my dad wasn't on vacation right now I'd ask him to do the math on this. He does work for Toyota all the time where he has to figure out math similar to this and I bet he knows the load bearing capacity of that deck.

To many variables with a 30 year old wooden structure, located in the nicely damp PNW, that requires two little girls to hammer the nails back in each year for anybody to possibly know the load bearing capacity. At best he could calculate the ideal capacity based on the info as applied to new and then subtract about 50% or so. Even then he would have to know what type, size and number of fasterners were used. The style and mating surface of each and every joint and probably 3 or 4 other things I can't think of right now. When talking that weight of potentially moving (the aforementioned "sloshing") mass and the factthat life and limb of two little girls are involved I don't think that this can be assessed by internet. This is a job for an onsite inspector with the training and experience suitable for the task.

Neat idea, but I just can't see mrs humfrz getting into a pre used hot tub ..... regardless of how well I sterilize it ..... besides, if she would happen to have one of her "hot flashes" while it a hot top .... our deck would look like mauna loa erupting .......
