I'm not built for leaning over the tank, so I'm more a standard/touring bike guy.

I know you meant to counter my point, but you just reinforced it. That was exactly the problem, I couldn't control the throttle well enough when I first started riding and a bike that fast and quick to respond to the throttle left me no room for error. I am obviously 'capable of learning to ride something bigger' as I currently ride an S1000RR and have ridden big/powerful bikes for 20 years. I was not capable of ridding something bigger when I'd never ridden a motorcycle before. For a 1st bike, no one knows what they are capable of and have no skills developed as they've never done it before. Like I said, some people are maxwrist and can just run with it. MOST cannot. You won't know until you try and it's a LOT easier to sell your bike and get a faster one when you outgrow it than to crash because you don't have the skill. |

Best city bike I ever owned was a Motard, upright position, see well past and over cars, up and down gutters, speed humps are jumps.
Rain, hail, flood, locusts tsunami, bitumen, concrete, dirt, foit paths. You cannot go wrong I like this new one from Honda I want a new motard now...damn it...

I LOL whenever I see one.
For a pit bike, yeah, but on the street, it's a classic yeah nah. Opinions may vary

I also keep looking at Zero motorcycles. They meet my current mission for a motorcycle in terms of range (I rarely ride long distance any longer just because of available time) but think they would make a great commuting option. Now that they have an option with a 200 mile range, it is very tempting.

I got my license one summer and rode a bunch bikes owned by friends.
The CBR500F was my favorite. As a Beginner, it was easy to get on and ride. The handlebars were comfortable and the seating position is more upright. It felt like it had plenty of power to grow into over a 300. Also rode his 650F and liked that too. I tried some bikes with more aggressive handlebars for track and did not like it at all. Not what I want for a street bike. For an everyday bike or something to put miles on and ride alot I would not buy anything with "R" attached to it. |

Yamaha R3 or Kawasaki Ninja 400. KTM RC390's reliability is questionable so would avoid that unless you are comfortable fixing motorcycles. But I do like the RC390. Anything beyond those IMO is going past being the BRZ/FRS or the motorcycle world. There are some nice naked choices too if you like nakeds.

The bike I really wanted when I was shopping for a small one was the Honda VTR250 naked.
They only sold faired ones with a really funky front brake in the US for a couple years. The fairing was pants and the colors were atrocious.

Seems you are just trying to be a argumentative and insult me here. And you are acting the same to others here also. If you want to start a fight, go outside and punch someone. I have no interest in keyboarding fighting with you. |
