Even applying the FIPG by hand temperature has a huge effect. I usually drop the tube in a bucket of warm water before use just for consistency sake.
If it is even checked per shift. Could be a daily or even weekly check since robotic operations "usually" don't vary much after set up. Since it appears that it is an excessive material issue over an improperly applied issue it should be easy to catch when the expected volumes used are off. All depends upon how tight the SPC is on the process. I can't imagine to long a period but who knows?

I actually thought about wearing a GoPro on my forehead, like those YT first person view car reviewers and recording the entire oil change process. Start with capturing the VIN, date and mileage and capture the entire 15-20 min process. Save in onto your laptop/computer. Can't say i didn't change the oil. But having said that, knowing this might be a potential problem, might just bring it to the dealer for the peace of mind.

Honestly, I wouldn't worry about it. Car forums and Facebook groups make problems look more prevalent than they really are.

You aren't hearing about the thousands of cars with this engine that aren't having an issue.

Is good to aware of the issue and monitor what you can but as I said earlier in the thread there are tens of thousands of Ascents out there with fundamentally the same block with no reported issues.

Just read through this thread and now i'm slightly worried. I was checking my oil a few days ago and when cleaning off the dip stick, i felt a small bulge right between the low and high indicator (if i recall correctly). I looked at it, and it looked like some grey plastic/epoxy type material that was stuck to the dipstick. When using a cloth to wipe off the oil from the dip stick, this material didn't budge, but when i picked at it with my nail it was somewhat malleable. I wonder if this could be the same material? The interesting thing, is that it is stuck to the dipstick and is small in size.

I'll try to get pictures in the next few days and share. I was also bringing the car into the dealer anyways for something else and will ask about it. I just got the car a couple weeks ago and it has about 500 miles.

Wonder if it is the same material as described in this thread...

I wonder if this is why there was that QC hold on a lot of the cars that were supposed to be delivered from January/February.

Most people think the QC hold was related to the hyperflash blinkers. It is possible it was this (or both), but I doubt it. My car with a build date of 04/22 still have the hyperflash problem so that is not resolved yet. As such, I doubt the QC hold in Jan/Feb was related. I have been reading more about this Jan/FEb QC hold, do you have more info about this?
