Agreed. Vipers, Corvettes, and huge power cars run staggered despite having good weight distribution.
The flip side would be like what Dave-ROR mentioned, with MR and RR cars. On my Exige S I run 205 front and 245 rear on the track, not because it has massive outright power, but because the weight balance is 39.5/60.5 and the tire temps and grip balance is appropriate. That sort of situation isn't really applicable for the FR-S, as it's modestly powered and has good weight balance. Once the aftermarket goes hog-wild with power, then naturally the question of tire temps and grip will have to be addressed.
