I noticed on the Subaru parts website that they list flexible V-bars on the site under part #E4010CC100.

The solid V-bars are the same across all models. It also appears to be cheaper than ordering 2018 tS v-bars separately.

what is the point of adding flex to a thing designed to remove flex?

They flex when needed, but also remain stiff when needed. What they do is increase compliance when one side of the car hits something. When turning, they remain as stiff as the stock solid bars.

How exactly is a rainbow made? How exactly does a sun set? How exactly does a posi-trac rear-end on a Plymouth work? It just does.

Really, it likely has to do with how the chassis moves or pitches.

The same way a thermos knows when to keep the drink cold or hot.

Solid bars work the same in both tension and compression. Flexible bars work mainly in tension (I have no idea how much compressive strength they would have). Hence if the strut towers want to angle inwards the flexible bar will allow that (or limit it less than solid bars), but if they want to angle outward the flexible bar will prevent that.

Yeah - it's weird. They are essentially the same part as the 2018 tS bars, only silver where the tS ones are black, IIRC.

My only guess is the 2018 tS ones are priced higher because they're what shops would be ordering as replacements when repairing accident damage on a North American market tS?
