You are right. STI is a Subaru marketing name for the version of their cars with the catalog performance parts PRE-installed from the factory. His is not an STI even though it very well may perform a lot better.

The reason they say there is no room is because the govt requires a certain amount of crush space in the event of an accident. Aftermarket could care less.

I want to mention that switchlanez BRZ looks pretty sweet.

STI has not impressed me one bit so far with their BRZ STI parts in terms of performance. Even with all the current STI parts installed on the BRZ, it will still be neck and neck between a fully decked out BRZ with STI and a stock BRZ.

Let's look at the biggest factors that can improve this car.

1) BRZ STI wheels are not light. You can do much better just buying a set of Enkei RPF1 for a quarter of the price.

2) STI doesn't release spring rate info. One can assume that they're pretty generic considering they were made for the stock dampers.

3) BRZ aero pieces won't make any real difference, especially on a low speed track.

I see nothing from STI that improved the BRZ in terms of performance.

This is how the BRZ STI should look. Add to this some brembos, different rear spoiler, some interior changes and power bump and we have a winner.
