Custom radio trim for standard size HU?

One of things that frustrate me about the FRS is the stock radio and its odd size (200 mm wide). The opening on the radio trim (or center bezel) fits only a limited number of head units. If I upgrade the headunit to an aftermarket unit, then I'd have to buy the Metra trim kit to fill in the gap and I'm not really liking how it looks because of all the different textures.

Is there any company that can customize the center bezel to give any aftermarket head unit that stock-like fit and look? I guess part of the difficulty will be to mimic the carbon-like texture which I'm not too fond of anyway. Or is there a company that sells or willing to make a radio trim panel with an opening that fits standard HU size?

I imagine if there is enough interest that we can approach a manufacturer to make one.

Your best bet is to have a fiberglass shop mold in a metra kit into the OEM dashboard pieces then put a carbon fiber overlay/sticker over it all.

I am tempted to buy a spare bezel and some fiberglass to make the hole smaller and wrap it with vinyl, but that is a project that I just don't have experience or time for.

I wonder if one of the engineers on this board would like to take on this project.

I was thinking of this the other day about a panel replacement that has the standard double-din cutout. Curious to see if a product like this comes to market or how else other people create their own!

Been thinking of this for a while, I currently have my metra kit wrapped in cf vinyl with my radio trim but still doesn't cut it
I inquired about it with JPM, but they told me that I needed to provide them with the right dash kit to avoid fitnent issues with my double din.

This is an old post but digital assassin did a great job with his

I don't want alcantara, would like something plain I can wrap, and prefer not to go down the bonded plastic road.

Surely there must be a company that could have one knocked up in China - you'd sell thousands worldwide.

It's the beat sonic spacers / adapter. They bond it to the piece and make it smooth, then wrap.

I like what digital assassin did. I might have to go that route if a manufacturer doesn't step up to make one.

I've approached Fuzion Teknique one of the vendors here, if one of the companies he deals with would be interested in making the part. Here's a couple of pics of what he already sells.

Do you guys think there would really be enough interest for such a product? I might have to conduct a poll to see how many people would be interested. If there are a lot then the manufacturer might just have to make one.
