I dont know if I like the C8 more than the Zupra. C8's got huge Type R vents in the front, funky boxy rear end, and looks like every super car out there mashed into one. I absolutely love the interior though! Love the Zupra's exterior but hate the interior.

I'll wait to see and drive both in person before considering either. I'm just glad these cars are in my price range so my poopra can get the rest it needs lol.

No doubt some are trying, mostly in the boonies, but the highest volume Chevy dealers in the world from New Hampshire to San Diego are still taking orders at MSRP and other forum sponsors at corvetteforum.com are too but not much longer. Supposedly, according to GM execs, they've almost sold out the 2020 run but didn't say how many that is other than they're going to two shifts at Bowling Green to meet demand.

when the C7 was 1st release there were tons with like $10k mark ups. i also think many are for getting that $59k price tag is for a base model. i think most people will spec their C8 to $65k+. even then thats still the best bang for your bang. whats a Cayman, GTR, 911, NSX, R8 etc.

now back to the Zupra talk. by the time the C8 hits showroom floors the Zupra will already be on sell for like a whole year. no one is really going to give a shit anymore. i wouldn't be surprised if people could start picking up the base model for $45k or less. also according to bimmerpost insider, the 2021 Zupra will be getting the "385hp" B58D as the standard model.

I don't know about you, but I'd hop on a plane to save potentially tens of thousands of dollars. Hell, I did just to get my 86. There may be some suckers who are afraid enough to cross a state line to get totally ripped off, but most aren't going to pay $20k over MSRP if they can take a few hour flight and get one for $5 under. The internet has made the car market a national market, so nationwide listings are very appropriate. I've even had dealers deliver cars to me in other states before.

Again, true enough for the tens of thousands difference...but the implication originally seemed to be that everyone will now be buying at discount and not even paying MSRP based off of some nationwide listings that were under MSRP by about 3 grand.

As pointed out by someone else, those lower listings are probably to gain attention and start a bidding war that probably still ends above or probably at least at MSRP. I just don't see it meaning that everyone in the USA will no longer pay more than $53k because of a few low price listings nationwide on cargurus. If I have $53-54k for a Supra, I probably also have the $57-58k and find it worth my time to stay relatively local and not have the hassle of going across the country to be one of the few to *possibly* get one under MSRP.

I'm not saying I think the $99k listings are reasonable or that anyone in their right mind would (or will) pay that...I only mentioned them because there are multiple ways to sort listings if you want the first page of data to fall in line with an argument, and that on average, I bet most of them will still be at or near MSRP. There are 22 pages of listings...and basically the first page is under MSRP by up to around $3-4k. The next pages is around MSRP or slightly above. So probably 21 of 22 pages are at or above MSRP. If so, either you have to hope to be one of the few that get those few first pages listings, or really hope that first page really does set off a trend compared to the following 21 pages.

I'm not sure why I'm even "arguing" this...because really, it wouldn't hurt my feelings too much if all the Supras sold for $30k. I have no dog in the fight of how the Supra sells. Just like the 86 - I wish they had made the Supra themselves rather than using BMW.

It just didn't seem logical to me that nationwide pricing hinges on that first page of results. Sorry for the novel. I'm long-winded.

It is actually illegal in most states to post an add for a car at a discount of which you do not intend to sell at that discounted price. Similar to bait and switch, it falls into false advertising laws and at a minimum opens a dealer up to lawsuits from consumers as well as other dealerships in any state. Not that there won't be some dishonest guys that do it, but it's not likely to be see widespread on national advertisement. They can however list the MSRP and then say they have additional fees once you contact them as listing the MSRP is just stating a fact of the manufacturers price, not saying this is the amount they intend to sell it for.

Let's put this into perspective of other cars that have sold at premiums. I will use the BMW M2 as an example (but they all work have worked this way - my coworker bought a mustang gt350 - well over MSRP - and it was the same). I was looking to get an M2 when they came out. The lowest advertised prices were MSRP. When you called these dealers, they didn't actually have the car and would generally say the add was just an add and the car was $20k over MSRP. I did not find one person at any point in the first year of production that advertised the car for anything less than MSRP. I also directly contacted nearly half of the dealerships in the country and never found 1 that advertised or suggested at any point a price below MSRP.

So, in summary I am calling BS on the theory that they are trying to entice a bidding war by advertising the car at a discount. That's just not how they sell a hot car with demand outstripping supply. Sorry the car isn't as hot as some people wanted it to be.

I got to drive the new Supra in a heavily restricted format, at an invite only Toyota Track day.
I was not able to use the paddles, I could only use standard drive mode, and I could not disable traction control. There was also some extremely slow drivers on the track, and I was not allowed to pass, so this really isn't an honest review.
Things I observed:
Interior fit and finish was excellent and very upscale from my 86. For better or worse.
Electric power steering was over assisted and didn't give much in the way of road feel. This may become more weighted in different drive modes, but I don't know for sure.
It's decently quick in a straight line and sounds ok.
It needs a manual.
You can definitely feel the extra weight over an 86.
I drove it for one ten minute session, and for all my other sessions I chose to drive the stock 86s Toyota had brung along with them, and found myself forever catching the Supra drivers with great ease. Driving the slower car faster, or at the same speed as it were, ended up being more fun on that day.
It is however the best BMW I've ever been in.

Numbers should ramp up this month, there are another 1,444 in dealer and port stock. That sounds substantial until compared to historic Toyota stock levels of 60 days supply that might mean there weren't many pre-orders to deliver.

Next month will have more reliable data with massive Toyota ad presence this month on all series that will bump showroom traffic that hopefully translates into Supra upsells.

I had the windows open, but it was very typical BMW, and better than the last Z3 M Coupe I drove.
Power delivery is extremely smooth.
