Can hunt whatever. Or have as a force multiplier, which is what NV is predominantly used as in conjunction with firearms.

Depending on what you're doing, it just doesn't make sense to not shoot frequently at night.

In terms of defense and such, most bad things happen in low light, statistically speaking. Understanding what does and doesn't work in such conditions should be something people explore and experience when going out shooting.

You normally walk around with a camera on a helmet on your head?

Nope. But that's not what I was referring to. I'll still happily own it if I want to.

But do you boo boo.

As it says in the title (no philosophical discussions) so I'll let you just think whatever you want. If you want some, go get them. If not, cool.

Man, you are the one trying to be serious about it. I was just remarking on that because I found the thought comical. You don't need to justify the "it's fancy and I want it" deal to a bunch of people on a car forum. In fact, based on what happens in the actual car threads, it's probably better you don't try lol.

I agree, a weapon is always more effective if you can see what you are shooting at -

My comment about training in low light conditions was more referring to the use of white light and proper understanding of movement and identification of surroundings and people and such. Also on how to still have good manipulation and mechanics of handling whatever weapon you have in your hands when you can't see it.

Wasn't really referring to NV there. Though NV also presents similar issues as depth perception becomes an issue, even with the better units like the 31Bs. Even the quad 18s, which some think are the ultimate godsend lol.

NV is fun though.. and it has its place.

I'll see tomorrow, but from the dry fires I did to get the resevoir shipped pressure down to 300bar I think it will be nice indeed. Trigger almost as good as the Accutrigger on my .308Win Savage 10FP. Stock is nice, but not 'excellent' - fit is really good, finish is 'okay', wood is more a B stock grade level... which is fine because this costs a little less than 1/2 of what the main premium top tier PCPs (Pre-charged Pneumatic) run. From every review I've seen on this new Benjamin chassis series (Cayden, Akela [bullpup config], and Kratos), they shoot just about as good as the more premium level PCPs - just in fit/finish where they are not top level. I can justify $600 or less for a PCP... $1,200 and up not so much.

And here's my Savage .308 with old Millett scope (now has Vortex Diamondback Tactical 4-1644 Mil-dot on it)

Question from a gun noob: I've been thinking about getting some guns since February (yep, for THAT reason), but I only plan on living in states with silly laws due to career. Should I go for an AR-15 pattern gun with a funny stock, or a California-law specialized gun like a Keltec RDB?

I have fired a few different rented guns at ranges before, but the internet says an AR is "the best" gun to have because of ergonomics and parts and such. However when I look at the RDB, I see a longer barrel (+6 damage in Counter Strike!), reviews that say it's reliable as long as you don't get mud into the ejection port, and I don't have to worry about it breaking any NY/CA/NJ/IL laws which ban popular guns by name.

Another thing I was thinking about was a .223/5.56 rifle vs a PCC given I can't have a suppressor. A 9mm round is much less powerful, producing less noise and flash, but people on the internet told me "all guns are loud" and "the military uses 5.56 carbines indoors".
