New 2022 FA Swap into Old 2014 BRZ Qs?

Hello guys!

First post ever due to not finding this information out anywhere! (Probably because nobody knows!)

I was looking for any information and opinions on if the new 2022 engines would be swappable into the older models.

I love the older models look, and would want to swap out my motor for one of the news ones + tune. I understand that the whole car altogether has major performance increases; however, I would rather keep what I love and have now, and pay for an engine instead of buying the first gen of a brand new car.

Thanks!

It will not be a plug and play swap by any stretch. Looking at the same issues that prevent there from being thousands of swaps for current WRX/STi engines.
By the time you can pick up the new engines cheap enough the current cars will all be old and worn out or not for sale anyway.
All in all it would just be plain silly to go to that expense to get a 15% increase in power.

You don't have a clue, it's plug and play for sure.
Also, it's not 15%. They underrated the Supra, this one is also underrated. My sources say that production tune is near 250whp on mustang dynos.
Comes with 1700cc port injectors, same DI injectors, uses the exact same engine harness and sensors from 2015+

There's even hammered out space in the transmission tunnel for the CD009.

The cars come with thin fenders for widebody and have space for 18x12 wheels on stock struts!!!!

See that is how you do sarcasm! Although there are bound to be people that believe it.

Seriously, how can this question even be asked?

The car is not out
No one's taken one apart
Since even 2016-2017 aren't plug and play, it's safe to assume 2014-2022 aren't either

Wait for the car to be out to buy a crashed car at salvage and be the one to find out!

And let's not forget that the new engine could turn out to be a real dog and the big swap will be to throw FA20s into the new cars!

Unless the increase in power and torque accompanies an increase in reliability, I wouldn't consider it.

Some much boost can the new 2022 engine take. Its basically the Ascent engine according to the internet.

I think its better to find out after the car comes out and someone with enough money, time and patience dives into this swap idea. It will be an interesting process.

I would prefer to just move from the old gen to the new one, sure some like the old design better but its not only about the engine with the second gen. There are other improvements that they must have done tot he chassis and the whole package will be more attractive than just an engine swap.

Well my opinion.

Nope.

Ascent - 10.6:1
BRZ - 13.5:1 (a whole integer higher than FA20!)

Ascent - 6000 RPM
BRZ - 7500 RPM (100 rpm higher than FA20!)

The only thing they have in common is the bore x stroke or 94 x 86mm. They're both a 2.4l FA block, but pistons, rods, combustion chambers and heads will be different.

Sarcasm doesn't always translate over the internet.
