Add it to the list of Subaru issues over the years: bearings, head gaskets, rusted front control arms, valve springs, and now RTV. Yet somehow I have 154k miles on my 04 WRX and 84k on my 16 BRZ - so far so good -knock on wood of course.

Got to remember the internet including YT in general skew to the negative.

No, dealers where fucking up the removal of the RTV and application of RTV while performing the recall and blowing up engines. Since at that point it is a workmanship issue Toyota/Subaru were not covering it and it was up to the dealers to cover and many were denying any wrongdoing.

All in all, there were very, very few failures due to the valve springs actually failing.

Seems like another one has blown engine, no conclusions on the culprit RTV yet.

The culprit is "19 or 20 track days".

Seems a bit excessive for a fairly new car. With 9k Miles for just to track and back driving to home.. yeah.. they are almost 60% mileage on just tracking alone.

Break in is for pu55ies!!!!!! My best buddy builds drag bikes and he says that break in instructions are just the companies trying to get people to drive slow until they learn the car for liability reasons. He says the best break in is to redline for at least an hour steady the minute you drive the car off the lot. This allows everything to seat properly. This is what I do and I have only blown up 3 engines.

We are talking about a fairly new car out of the box, that can revs pretty high.
This guy been tracking it 20th times in less than 6 months.
Most of his 12k miles are actively on the track.
Not sure many cars under 40k can withstand that let alone being hitting revs limiter day in day out.

Like I said, I know guys that do that locally. Their car is primarily just their track day toy since new, and being in the PNW our track season is short. I know guys that also do that many track days on high mileage cars too.

This. If proper maintenance and driving is done, i do not see a reason for any modern cars to fail even when used as a lapping/track car. There are even poop loads of FA20s that still survives to this day even after heavy heavy track use. Time will tell is f there is indeed a design or parts problem with the FA24.
