I'll ask them too. I have one of those cheap AC pumps at home that I have been using, but I think their equipment might be better at truly evacuating the system.

Had my first hose leak at the same spot. Second hose leaks a the valve core. I plan to take the first hose that leaked and have it repaired as well. I wonder how many others out there have had issues just haven't posted up about it yet?

The new hose worked well for about 3 weeks or so but eventually started leaking in the same exact spot as the old one. I got tired of dealing with it so I just left it and would top off the AC as needed. Well today that hose blew apart at one of the crimps:



At this point I'm just gonna take the hose to an AC shop here in Austin and pay to have one made; as I don't trust the quality control of the A/C lines that Kpower makes for this kit.

So I’m still really torn on all this and issues with the wiring harness. I read about the ground wires being an issue but what ended up being the solution? Thought I had it bookmarked but I lost the page I think.
With the Haltech on BF discount, do y’all still think the KPower wiring harness is still worth it, or do you guys that have been running swaps for awhile wish you had gone in another direction?

I talked to Gerald and he agreed with my grounding idea, so I made a list of grounds at the junction box, as shown left to right:



1. VTC solenoid / oil sensor
2. Crank position sensor / VTEC solenoid
3. Both cam position sensors
4. Ground ring, back of head
5. Coil 2
6. Coil 4
7. Coil 3
8. Coil 1
9. Ground ring, front of head
10. AC1 pin 44
11. AC1 pin 40
12. AC1 pin 37

I decided the cleanest way would be to add a new sensor ground junction box, so I bought:

Depinned ground junction box pin 1, cut off the second wire, pinned the VTC solenoid into the existing junction box, pinned the oil sensor into the new junction box (sensor junction box)

Depinned AC1 pin 34, cut one of the wires, pinned it into the new sensor junction box, soldered/heatshrank a new wire from the wire I cut on AC1 to the sensor junction box.




Nice thing is the junction boxes clip together to keep everything tidy. I think a cleaner way would be to crimp a new pin for AC1 instead of splicing, but whatever. I also intend to move the cam sensors and crank sensor to my sensor junction box since Haltech expects them to be sensor grounded.

If you want to integrate with stock CAN and you're going to be running Haltech (and I think it is worth it for DBW) you're saving something like $1200, but you also get to make your own harness / figure out the pinouts / buy all of your own connectors / etc.

While I have had some qualms with the KPower harness I'd gladly pay the money again if I was starting over. The base map is drivable to a tuner, but I would never consider putting track time on it.

I've clearly been pretty vocal about some of the short comings of the swap, but honestly, it gets a lot right. We've got someone here who has been daily driving a swapped car with relatively few issues for like a year / 14k miles and I've got 7 events on mine without a single issue swap issue (stupid transmission) other than some exhaust bolts rattling loose.

I think it is pretty legit that a Honda FWD motor can be turned 90*, put into a modern Subaru chassis, and work pretty much like stock. It can also probably, with proactive part collection / motor prep, be completed in a weekend if you're sufficiently motivated.

It's really a matter of a time thing for sure. We're capable around here of building our own wiring harness, but with not much winter down-time around here we could easily eat up 6mos before really getting moving on a project, so plug an play is always a better answer, I just don't want to be majorly frustrated with stuff once its in lol
