For now I'm considering Thule XT XXL
I do not have first hand experience yet but this is based on talking with a friend who used a roof rack on his BRZ.

A box will be more sketchy on the highway (not sure what the normal speed limit is where you are traveling but anything over 60mph/95kph). He switched from a box to an open basket and it felt more stable at high speeds.

So I actually followed this advice and got myself Thule Canyon XT. It's quite small and I think it fits BRZ really well. I really like how it looks, imho even adds a bit of unique character to the car. Aero seems fine. Few times on highway I forgot about this rack (I have really loud tires so I didn't recognize air turbulence noise) and ended up speeding like 150kph with it. Still it took that beating like a champ.

Sorry for filthy car but like... it's winter here. And i didn't have time to take it to hand wash.
