Torque App not reading Oil temp properly

Hi Guys,

Having a issue where I can get the oil temp but it seems to drop off after 30 seconds or so and doesn't come back unless I restart the torque app. I triple checked the config for oil temp and all but I'm not sure why its dropping off. Everything else is reading perfectly.
Ive checked the forums for the settings and it looks all correct but I cant figure out why it would read fine and then drop off. Any ideas? Or is it possible the OBD2 dongle I have is faulty?

I have the same issue. I assume its the readers . I used one and it does not read oil temps at all but reads everything else . I tried a new reader , it works fine but has the same issue as yours . I will try another reader and see of that works. I guess due the these readers being clones , they either work or dont. Its a luck of the draw.

You can always get a tactrix or any other reader that's compatible with techstream and view it there too.

It could be the app or the reader. I have had better luck using this one over torque:

My OBD2 scanner itself doesnt work for oil temp too*. I'm assuming its the cheaply made unit's fault.

Someone mentioned in the "official torque app" thread that uninstalled, reinstalling, and inputting the oil temp immediately got it to work - who knows, give it a shot

Is your ELM327 version a 1.5, or 2.0? 1.5 apparently had better compatibility, you can also use this app to check.

I'm using Car Scanner app with this OBDII reader (https://www.instagram.com/p/Bo1UAmXjKwB/) and have no problems reading oil temps on both my Impreza and BRZ.

I am currently using the Vgate OBD reader works perfectly now for both the Fuel and Oil Temp pids .

See pics bellow , the Vgate i am currently using is the older firmware 1.5 and the Orange reader has the newer 2.0 firmware . so maybe that was the issue .

Subaru "fixed" it with the BRZ. You get oil and coolant temp on the dash. I say " fixed" because I think the implementation is kind of ugly
