Bright colors really make the black accents stand out, especially the fender vents.

I would normally say white is so boring because every crossover you see is white, but it really looks good on the GR86. The red is sharp too.

AT had always a better value. I wouldn't be surprised if MT has > 200gr/km

They might just be looking for press shots for RoW markets though ;-)

Well being that Japan also uses WLTP, that makes it the likely figure for Europe. Which translates into a 16 800€ CO2 tax in France

Not necessarily, the last WLTP GT86s had lower CO2 as manuals (191 vs. 193)

My car is registered with 159gr/km and it is a 6+ years old car. Everyone goes lower and Subaru goes higher.

My best bet it will be around 210gr/km

That is a BIG big tax for France

I thought first gen wltp was 196 for manual and 183 for Auto.

It's an auto then?

Nevertheless, the switch from the NEDC testing procedure to WLTP caused CO2 values to increase by about 25% across the board. That'll be your main culprit.

Mine's a 2013 manual and is registered @181gr/km (I think).

Those were the "intermediary" WLTP-correlated NEDC values, which were a sort of anticipation of the WLTP results that was used on European cars for a year or so. The final WLTP values were 191gr/km for the manual and 193 for the auto, see the below which is out of Subaru France's website :
