Help please? (Car died driving home, $400 later and it just barely starts up)

You know how that "sandwiching" got started. This dawned on me as I laid awake on the top bunk in WW II Army "T buildings", looking at the ceiling.

The Army quartermaster corps was in charge of ordering materials. Some G-4 type entered the wrong number of 2x4s on the order form and no lumber any larger.

So the strategy "improvise" kicked in and they ordered the Corps of Engineers to just glue the 2x4s together and build the fucking "T" buildings!

Yep, back in the old Army, they were everywhere.

They were designated "T" building since they were to be "temporary".

(1940 - 1970 +) = Army temporary)

As a cadet, I spent a number of weeks in them. Yes, the floors were hardwood and we had to spit shine them. For that reason we took off our boots at the door.

Insulated walls - not, air conditioning - not, fans - not.

The picture depicts the upper ranking enlisted barracks (not double bunked).

Fingers crossed it should be coming home today. Thanks to everyone for their advice and pointers. I guess now my last question for this thread is what can I do to keep the fa-20 running as close to new as possible ?(anything besides the basics dont red line, change the oil and filter?)

Red line is fine. Just don't live up there without a decent oil cooler.

there's moderate debate from time to time about running 5w-30 instead, as the 0-20 tends to be too thin to really stick to anything, which some believe contributes to a lack of oiling.

i added some lucas oil stabilizer this past time, curious to see if it'll have a similar result, and maybe make for a slightly quieter motor...

Oh, I forgot about the 5-30. I guess it's ok to run it a little hot.

i tend to run my car a little, um, 'enthusiastically' anytime i'm driving it(i've got the truck for boring commuting/work stuff, the car is now dedicated solely to 'fun' time, which means it's getting ran harder everywhere), so this past oil change, with all the motors blowing, i spent extra time looking at oil than i normally do..

decided on the oil stabilizer as a middling step. don't like switching oil weights without a lot of extra gauges i don't have to better monitor the flow rate, but wanted 'stickier' oil...
