Back before cell phones with cameras, I drew a diagram of the rear drums on my Chevy Nova (the Toyota re-badged one) so I could get it back together.

Why would you draw a diagram of the rear drums on your Chevy Nova (even if it's a rebadged Toyota)?

DAMNIT.
Guys, yesterday I could see all my brake parts just fine but today I can't see anything at all. I can't even tell if I have rotors or calipers much less pads.
What can I do? PLEASE HELP!

Just get some decent chrome wheel caps and all will look okay.

Will they let me see my brake parts? Do i mount them behind the wheels like mirrors?

You clearly do not have the intelligence to contribute to this conversation if you can't even answer my question. Just go back to your 50s moondisk fanboi stuff and leave this to the grown ups.

derail in 3, 2, 1....

so my rangers brake pedal started feeling 'off' about a month ago. tore down the rear drums, and figured out that the parking brake was seized half-applied, one piston was seized on one side, the other side was leaking. replaced the pistons, took pictures before tearing it down to make sure i could get it back together.

i get everything back together 100% of how the pictures i had were, but then the brake adjuster cables had 1/2" of slack, where it had all been tight.

it took 4 hours and calling my mechanic brother out to look at it to finally figure out that the half-moon cable guide piece the adjuster cable ran over had a notch that was 1/32" out of place, causing the slack.

drum brakes are evil.

I think you may have a point regards"intelligent" contribution. My simple thinking was based on shiny things always look good and impress.. as for checking the darn brake pads, how about the following?

That's great but you still haven't explained why you drew your brake drums on your car?

i didn't draw them. that was the other guy. and he drew them out because he said it was before digital pictures. back then, they had to take pictures on film, and get them developed, which would take weeks.

i know, because my families first digital camera, my mom would always yell at me for "wasting film".
