Upgraded low-mile SoCal 2016 BRZ HyperBlue
One of 500 built in a striking shade of French blue, the car comes with a clean title and 19,800 miles on the odometer. It’s virtually perfect mechanically and cosmetically. (The only blemishes are on the front air dam, shown in the photographs.) The registration is good through December 2020. I have the pink slip in hand. I'm asking for $21,000.
The original owner modified the BRZ for show-car purposes with coilovers and straight pipes. After I bought it, the car was transformed into an everyday driver as a project undertaken by MotoIQ, the online magazine in the South Bay, with the work being done by Howard Watanabe of Technosquare. You can find details of the build here: https://motoiq.com/project-unpimp-my...ta86-brz-fr-s/. The car now features Pedders Ezi Fit struts, which sharpen the handling and lower the ride-height a bit while maintaining the original ride quality. There are also beefier sway bars, front and rear. I replaced the Versus throttle pedal with a Cusco unit that works better for heel-and-toeing. But I'll include the Versus piece as well as the stock struts and aftermarket LED taillights that I removed in favor of the original components. The car comes with the stock exhaust manifold and mid-pipe and an ARK Performance cat-back exhaust with stainless-steel tips. Previous testing by MotoIQ suggests that this should add about 5 horsepower at the rear wheels. Plus, the exhaust sounds better than stock. The engine also is fitted with an Injen cold-air intake that produced an additional 5 horsepower in testing by DSport Magazine. I’ll include the cat-less stainless steel headers and a stainless steel overpipe that I removed from the car after I bought it. They are unequal-length headers, so they amplify the signature Subaru boxer rumble and ought to generate some extra oomph, though I didn’t leave them on the car long enough to get a feel for performance. I can't find any manufacturer's markings on the pieces, but based on visual inspection, they appear to be unequal-length headers from PSR. Here's a link to some information about them: http://www.prospeedracing.com.au/pro...scion-frs.html. Judging from how easily they were removed, the fitment appeared to be perfect. Please be aware that the headers don't come with gaskets. Also, by removing the stock exhaust manifold, you're also getting rid of one of the catalytic converters, so you won't be able to pass smog – at least in California – without reinstalling the stock unit or finding a test station that looks the other way. Oh, and I replaced the battery last month. Last edited by socman56; 07-10-2020 at 03:10 AM. Reason: Updating the price |
