AIM Solo DL Q&A - Have questions on how to use your AIM?

When you first receive your Solo DL, follow these steps:

- Install the Race Studio Software
- Plug in your AIM Solo DL to your computer, and turn it on
- Open RaceStudio
- Click Device Configuration
- Select ECU Manufacturer to be Toyota
- ECU Model should be set to GT86/Scion_FRS
- Set sampling frequency to maximum for all channels
- Change measurement unit to the unit of your choice.
- *transmit the changes to your AIM Solo DL* (thanks @dp1 for catching this important step)

When you get to the track:

- Turn on your unit, and give it a minute to lock onto GPS Satellites
- Make sure the unit has a clear view of the sky (through glass is okay)
- Select your track

Have other questions? Ask away!

Need a data log analyzed? Please PM me with the information your looking for and/or what your objective is with me analyzing your log. Rates are VERY affordable.

For S2000 you need to use the basic OBD2 channels. See the attached screenshot of the configuration manager. I used it with my s2k and it worked but the standard OBD channels have slow refresh rate and may seem a little choppy.

James Colborn has a whole Youtube series about how to best use your AIM SOLO (DL and non DL). He occasionally races with the Compass 360 and Bimmerworld teams and hosts seminars here in the NW for local racers. I don't want to take away from CSG Mike but I thought these were generally very good how-to videos that others may benefit from.

Nobody's ever bothered, but if someone were to document what channel is what on the S2k, all we need to do is email that to AIM and they'll add a S2k specific mode.

I know there's a TON more data that can be had, because I can pull a heck of a lot more data with a FlashPro.

Have you configured your Solo DL to specifically read the BRZ? Read the first post for instructions

Mike, I did configure the Solo for the FT86 ECU and then transmitted info. I do see all of the ECU channels on the 'system config' page. I also set the sampling freq and units of measure. I used the Solo yesterday and I have lap data but no ECU data.

Do you have an early 2013 build? Some of them have shaky OBD2 ports. You may need to jiggle the connector around. Use an ecu display to check for a connection.

when you go to the online feature, are you able to see the value of the sensors or just a bunch of ###?

I have a brand new unit. Puma, when I go to 'online' I can see all of the ECU channels, and values for each channel, but under last column 'measurement', its showing ERR. in each box for all but the first five channels. So I am assuming ERR. is an error message?

Firmware 46.03.18 shows on screen.

might as well post a problem I've been having since the beginning but generally too lazy to address.

So, I use my SOLO for autocross. I start each morning by creating a new point-to-point track, I create a start beacon and a finish beacon.

now, my problem is that the recording never starts at the start beacon, but when I hammer down above a certain RPM.

ive dinked around inside the settings, and there's one for RPM/speed launch, but I'd really want it to just activate upon triggering the start beacon. Any help?

second issue is that after finishing an autocross run, the logger starts a "second lap" even though I'm no where near the starting point, and it runs until I park the car.

not a big deal, but just forces me to clean up the files manually at home, but would love it if it just sorta did what I wanted it to do. Start at start... finish at finish, log a file.

That is correct.

Are you tuned? What year is your car?

What mode is your unit in? If you're not in circuit, try lowering the S/F tolerance distance. Also, lower the recording start window.
