I put my headphones on, and at 1:29 in the second video, there is a fairly loud 'boom', which I thought was just road noise/pot hole, because the camera also shakes. But if you say this is coming from the engine... Oh dear

The pops at idle have been documented here, people seem to get them randomly on cold engine starts, supposedly it's the result of a cat light up timing. I've gotten them a few times. But popping during driving is definitely something you should get looked at. Either DI seals, maybe coil packs (they seem to be replaced somewhat frequently)... it's some kind of misfire.

I've had DI seal failures twice. Mine sounded completely different. Yours is more of a "thumping" sound, mine was a clear "popping" sound (higher pitch). I could replicate my issue without even moving, just by blipping the throttle very quickly.

I personally don't think it's the DI seals, but I'd still get it checked out.

Yeah same wired popping noise. My car had that cel drama at 36 miles and a second time at 1k miles. Brought it to dealer, they ripped out my engine both times did mad repairs. Along list I never bother to look at. After they fixed the problems they then offered 100k mile warranty and now this. So much problems with this car smh

It might be the road noise. I can't remember myself. I really hope I am just being picky, meaning my car is just fine.

thanks for your comment! I haven't got any CELs by far. Hopefully it is not the DI seal or major issue in engine. I don't want it to be ripped open there. = . =

I'd still be cautious. On both DI seal failures, I didn't have a CEL. But, like I said, yours does not sound like DI seal failure. It sounds like road noise (thump going over creases in a road?).

Best of luck!

will do! thanks. But it might be the road noise being too loud or it easily gets picked up by the microphone, I do have a tiny version of pops at the frequency of engine. I will keep this updated.

My '14 FRS has The same noise. 14,000 miles and it just started 3 days ago right after racing a BRZ on the freeway one night. The following morning it was obvious. And there's definitely less power now too.

Oh hell na!!! It didn't have much power to begin with.

Help-

It's the fuel injectors seal on the direct injection side. I have pictures and videos that I will link.
