When building the Cayman (also a coupe introduced afterwards based on a convertible) Porsche actually bothered trying to lower the weight.
The Cayman had an integrated top is why. The z4 coupe was basically a shelled convertible—just not removeable; ie, the top was not a single, continuous piece with the rear quarters like standard coupes.

I get it though. There may be a rare exception.

Seems like it should have less weight if it has less bells and whistles than the Z4, which seems likely, and a coupe will be a decent reduction in weight over a convertible.
I always figured the Supra would weight a little under 3,200. I was hoping for something closer to 2,9XX. We will see though.

Oh I see. It all depends. I think BMW will likely add more stuff like sound deadening material, structural integrity braces, the convertible system, electronics like driver assistance stuff, mood lighting, etc.

That is basically what I was referring to, including the examples above. I can't think of anything specific beyond those other than aftermarket examples, which you mentioned.

I personally owned a MK3 Camaro with a custom targa top that was lighter than the standard model, primarily because they just started with a t-top and removed the T, and replaced the heavy glass T-tops with a piece of convertible material, and a little bracing that stiffened things up a bit. I'm sure it flexed a bit more but you couldn't tell it in day-to-day driving.

I could totally tell in my MKIV Supras. I had a targa and a hardtop. The hardtop was like 100-150 pounds lighter if I remember correctly, which like a passenger was noticeable, and the vehicle was slightly stiffer than the targa with the targa top on, but really noticeable with the targa top off. Especially with really aggressive driving in the cannons, the flex was very unsettling.

Porsche publishes the same weight for both Boxster and Cayman.

However, I'm pretty sure that's BS

How bland. I hate how most manufacturers insist on the same uniform corporate look for all their cars these days. I mean, when the original M1 came out it wasn't just a marginally sleeker 5-series.

The front and rear look like the Fiat 124.
