But hey, you keep going on with your opinion there, it's all good. We could go out on a drive through some back roads together and I bet I'd be able to have just as much fun as you do, even with my "adequate" transmission.
Well said. And honestly I wished I would have bought an auto instead of my MT.

Well said.

Also, maybe we've touched on this in another thread. I loved my rustbucket 240z. I daily drove, crisscrossed the U.S., and fantasized about tracking it for 10 years.

The 86 does almost everything better. I still miss that straight-6 and sitting on top of the rear wheels. You know, the stuff that really counts.

And it's a pretty simple answer. You absolutely control the shift points, and clutch. Not sure what is so hard to understand. Like I said if you are going to compare the car capabilities as a daily driver then you can have that one. Most people won't assess this car on it's daily driver merits.

You control the shift points with the AT as well; not sure why you keep bringing that up like you can't. where do you get the impression that most people won't assess this car on its daily driver merits? I'd hazard a guess that the majority of twins sold were bought as daily drivers.

Just silly. Then biggest complaint about the Porsche GT3 is that you can only buy it with paddles. Guess what Porsche just announced, they are offering the new 4.0 liter GT3 with an manual 6.

Long time (and lots of new) Ferarri owners have been complaining for years and want the traditional MT back. If you have never used them, paddles are fun for a day. that's true PDKs. I've never had the pleasure of driving the fake ones like on the twins.

The takeaway from these threads seems to be that the AT drivers enjoy the car anyway, and the MT drivers have never driven the AT but feel compelled to tell everyone how much it sucks.

With manual cars, there's more to keep track of (clutch engagement, being in the correct gear, etc), it diverts attention away from making up for the bad habits of other drivers .... like other drivers who slam on their brakes in stop and go traffic or change lanes without signaling.

I can see the appeal of manual cars but in an area with a lot of traffic and bad drivers, it can get nerve racking.
Another silly statement. You are much more involved with the entire process of driving, including where cars are around you, with a manual trans.

LOL, the old "driver involvement" chestnut. MT drivers really seem to have some sort of shortcoming that having a stick tries to address.

I've had plenty of both. Both have great applications. My preference for a small sports car is MT, but I certainly don't give a rats ass what someone else buys, but make stupid statements about either and I might share my opinions.

Really? Even with a new driver who barely knows how to change gears? I'd think that they're more concerned with shifting than paying attention to what's around them.

Show me an MT driver who loves their car, and I'll show you an AT driver who loves it just as much. Driving AT doesn't take a single thing away from driving the car every day.

Hell, even when it comes to track days, I know a guy who drives a near stock AT twin that put up a considerably faster lap time than another guy I know who drives an MT twin with a turbo. I wonder who's enjoying their car more/getting more out of it.

Well, speaking of stupid statements:

"You are much more involved with the entire process of driving, including where cars are around you, with a manual trans."

I don't either. 90% do, then? I've never owned an AT car, but I've driven the AT FR-S enough to know that it's a fine transmission and I'd be very happy with it. I'd rather have it over the MT in some circumstances.

Still, LOL at the people who shit on the AT who have never driven it because "muh involvements". Sapphireho, for a textbook example.
