This type of picture was produced for a device called a stereoscope.
You can approximate the resulting stereo picture by getting very close and uncrossing your eyes.

I thought a stereoscope was two endoscopes taped together so you get binaural hearing as you slide it up someone's colon.

For the past 2 or 3 weeks the next apartment building over (90% sure) has had a smoke alarm going off every couple minutes. Probably a dying battery.

Yesterday I was outside on the curb checking my mail and I noticed this one guy who lives in that building hanging out outside (he does this a lot). So I figure I'll see if he's aware and if not, let him know and see if he'll offer to look into it out of courtesy.

So I walk over, say hi. Then I bring it up, saying "hey, I've noticed lately that there's a smoke alarm that's been going off and it seems like it's coming from your building."

Before I could continue with anything else, he goes: "I wouldn't know anything about that.'

So I say "ok, thanks" and start turning around to walk back to my building, and he goes "by the way your car is loud when you start it up, so tit-for-tat."

And I sort of went...

Said "uh I see" and just walked away.

So basically... he does or he doesn't know whose alarm is dying and he took it to mean I was complaining and so he wanted to have a comeback with his own complaint??

Meanwhile I rarely ever leave these days before 9am or after 9pm. So it's not like I'm starting my car in sleep/quiet hours, and I only come and go maybe two or three times a day max. So I'm not constantly cold starting / revving.

And besides that, I don't even have headers, just an axleback.

Anywho guess common courtesy isn't a thing anymore on either end.

This reminds me of something that happened to me a long time ago.

I was working out of state for this construction company. To save money a buddy and I got an extended stay hotel that was more like a 2 bedroom apartment so we could cook and not go out as much to save our per diem. The place was full of out of state labor and contractors. One night the smoke alarm for the place below us went off a bit after midnight. It went on and on for a while so we walked down stairs to see what was going on. The lights were on in the place but the curtains were closed. We knocked on the door for almost 10 minutes before calling the fire department. Fire department showed up and forced their way in. Turns out dude was really drunk, and passed out while cooking, burned the hell out of whatever was on the stove.

Nobody else in the place heard it

Double post, but while not surprising, turns out all four of the WRX's wheels are bent. The other three not nearly as bad as the one the shop told me was bent, but still definitely bent. Also the engine splash guard fell off of the clips, cracked on the road, and needs replaced. In addition, the coffee pot that I just bought in March broke when I ran it through the dishwasher this morning. The tip of the spout cracked off.

I am now firmly in the "they don't make things like they used to" camp. Someone get me my walker.

Your car wasn't loud at all before so unless you changed something he really had no legit complaint.
Guess he felt he had to maintain the upper hand in the non situation.
