Aug Fast Track out.

http://scca.cdn.racersites.com/prod/...k-aug-solo.pdf

So not classed in ST yet. For the FRS or BRZ.

However some biggies.

Road Tire
1. Effective immediately upon publication, after consideration of member input the SEB has amended the specifications for
the Road Tire supplemental classes such that the minimum treadwear rating is 180. (7918, 7945, 7953, 7986, 7995, 8004,
8014, 8020, 8026, 8030, 8032, 8051, 8083, 8100, 8115, 8214, 8283). The SEB believes that a higher treadwear rating for
RT than for ST is consistent with the differences in levels of preparation.

No more RS3s for RT class.... Which sucks since I bought them early in the year. Glad I have a set of dunlops sitting the garage.

Just FYI there was a post on sccaforums from one of the SEB guys who said the "Effective immediately upon publication" is wrong, it's supposed to read 1/1/2013. So people do not have to throw away their tires... yet.

Guess they need more time on sport touring.

Bye-bye RS3's and R1R's in road tire. It would make sense to give people some time to adjust, so I hope that is a typo.

I also like the ruling on the minimum five minutes in between runs for two driver cars and reruns.

I wish they would give RT classes their own PAX modifier. I'm tired of running raw times better than sport touring and getting pax'd worse.

Glad I went with the Star Specs I guess. I almost put RS3's on the BRZ, as I have them on my Miata and love them (especially when its hot).

This might be a multi-forum same statement...

Not gonna happen. PAX is unofficial in many many many many ways. the word PAX doesn't appear at all in the rulebook. Only the pros use something like the PAX and reserve the right to modify those numbers.

Rick Ruth once upon a time made a statement along the lines of roughly .975 modifier. Milwaukee region has used their modifier, and your region is welcome to adopt something. But the discussion also went down the hole that it wouldn't be the same modifier for HS that it is for DS as it is for SS. There simply isn't enough data, and at the time RR made that statement was before RS3's and Toyo R1R's (which are no longer allowed).

There isn't enough data to assign the individual classes, and a flat .975 doesn't solve things all that well. Hopefully you attend your regions Solo meetings and can bring it up there.

If you don't attend your region's meetings, I'd put it likely that it would be dropped. If no one is there in person to foster the discussion, why should they have it? You still might be stone-walled.

I think they want to class right the first time, and there isn't enough data to be certain for THIS year's Nationals, so they aren't rushing yet. That was a meeting of the SEB as of June 27th, not the meeting of the STAC. The SEB were reviewing things submitted to them well before June 27th at that, so the timeline just wasn't going to line up.

This is the world of volunteer sport.

I'd like to get to that end goal, but I'd want it as close to theoretically correct too.

With whatever limitations my brain has, the endgame that *might* work would be to have their own separate specific PAX numbers, RT-H of .xxx, RT-G of .yyy etc.

We do simply need a LOT more data. We need consistent drivers with full prep on national style courses with easily measurable consistent other drivers at those same events. And we need it over the course of years.

The PAX will always be imperfect because we're not robots I think Rick does an incredibly thankless job and with relatively fair results. Unfortunately a PAX that works perfectly for asphalt, won't work perfectly on concrete, etc. Sooooo...

I'm going to say this now... Tire Rack and the scca can kiss my !!!. They just turned the RT class in the Dunlop star spec... spec class. Since tire rack sponsors nats and they have a monopoly on star specs I wonder how much they had to offer up to make this happen. I'm very glad my local club got away from those guys. Hoping for next year hankook raises the rs3s tread rating by a little bit.

Really? So the Yokohama AD08's and the Bridgestone RE-11's and Kumho XS's are completely worthless on all RT class cars? I kinda like the Yokohamas on my RTR Mustang, and almost got the Kumhos for the BRZ.

Even your SCCA region has full rights to do what they will, this is a National ruleset. So yeah, follow these rules at Tours and Nationals, do what you will locally.

This move has its holes, but absolutely, without a singular doubt, this has nothing to do with Dunlop AT ALL. It may have everything to do with the 195 Toyo R1R, and this was a way to curb that without listing it and allowing it to stand in STS, STC, STF, etc. It's also about the future of the tire industry and the club.

Even with the problems these decisions have, the SEB doesn't take anything lightly. These are volunteer members of the community that try their best to make decisions that benefit the club and the sport the most.
