FIVE:AD by FIVE AXIS Spoiler installed

Got a pleasant call from the garage on Friday. "Your spoiler is in you can come pick it up"

Here is a semi unboxing. You can see what it includes.

This was my first time installing a spoiler using 3m tape and the adhesive promoter so I was a bit nervous about screwing it up. The car is only a month old.
1.) prepped the car by washing it first. Concentrating mostly on the trunk area.
2.) Dryed off the trunk area
3.) Mixed some isopropyl alcohol with water and thoroughly cleaned the area where the spoiler will be attached.
4.) Let the car sit in the sun for aprox 45-1 hour to heat up the trunk.
5.) Cleaned the trunk area one more time with alcohol

Then followed the instructions included in the spoiler kit.

Honestly I found the templates not very useful..kinda got in the way...but the china marker was quite important because it will give you a visual reference where to apply the adhesive promoter supplied in the kit.

Another tip is when you pull the ends of red backing of the adhesive. Tape it to the spoiler...there is a chance it can curl back under the spoiler during the installation.

This 3M tape is insanely strong....once you drop it on the trunk it aint moving!

Had a scary moment when the spoiler was placed and it was time to pull off the rest of the backing tape. Not knowing how strong the tape was I started pushing down the spoiler before pulling off the rest of the backing. The seal was so tight that the backing tape almost broke while pulling.

Not sure if that made sense but "Pull off all the backing tape on the top before pressing down to seal the spoiler!" then repeat with the bottom.

The spoiler goes edge to edge! There is no gap so be careful....when you place it to test fitment....it may look like there is a 1 mm gap on each side.

FIVE:AD by FIVE AXIS Spoiler Photo

Here are some photos of the spoiler installed. The fitment is excellent and really follows the lines of the body. Beautiful spoiler and balances out the car. Love it and really happy with this purchase.

I brought in the oem camber bolts....unfortunately they refused to install them saying that it would take too much time and lots of trial and error. A bit confused since I was paying them for the job.

They also had another set of 'proper' bolts but decided not to ask me if I wanted to use those. Kinda gave up on the camber ...it's just a smalll poke. Don't want to pay for another realignment.

JDM Exhaust Tips

JDM exhaust tips arrived today, the tips look huge when they are sitting in your living room. Not really a big mod, but something that I felt needed to be replaced.

Incredibly easy to install, make sure you spray your old bolts with some WD40 a few days before. Don't want to break the head of the bolt off.

Such a small cosmetic change but I feel it was worth it.

Start Button

I found a shop that will install a start button for me. No smart key system.

Ever since the S2000 came out I have always wanted a start button in the car. Now all cars seem to have one. Unfortunately the FRS that I love so much still doesnt.

Functionality of the S2000 is all I want....put in the key, turn and press "Start"

The installer said that he could modify the stock button to work. Found one on ebay that also included the console tray for pretty $55.

Fingers crossed...really hope this goes smoothly.

Footwell mood lighting opinions

Thinking about installing some Red LED strips for mood lighting in the footwell...probably install a switch to turn it off or on.

Is it too Fast and Furious? Too cheesy? LOL Its fun but I think it will be a guilty pleasure that I experience when I drive alone. HAHA

XXR 527 Center Caps and 86 Stickers

Rocked the wheels with no center caps for awhile. Had the XXR caps sitting around for a few weeks. Decided to use an old bottle of heat resistant matte black bbq paint and give it a spray.

I am guessing it will last for awhile. Also picked up some 86 stickers from a local supplier.

The XXR decals are 55mm while the 86 stickers were 48mm. Just had to carefully center them. Looks good.

Perrin 'Shorty' antenna replacement

Noticed the stock antenna was slightly curved by the force of the wind. Luckily my local parts supplier had some Perrin antennas kicking around.

Personally I am not a big fan of the shark fin style antenna. I find the shape to be really odd.

Wowzers. This is almost everything that I want to do to my FRS minus the wheels. Can you please post some rear corner shots of the car with the spoiler? Thank you!

Nice!

the car looks great! I also have a Whiteout Fr-s that I just bought last week. Really liking the wheels, still debating if I should get the bronze, gold or gunmetal xxr 527s.

Thanks! Ive used cutters from Roland and US Cutter....Currently the machine I am using is from US Cutter. Great quality at a great price....they can probably cut almost anything you throw at it.....the software that is included is incredibly easy to use also.

I've cut wall murals with it, where I had to line up 4 sheets of 4' x 8' feet with little problems.

so car stickers is a breeze. (if thats what you are using it for)

The challenge is to learn the craft, weeding, application etc....getting the settings right......but mostly straight out of the box the equipment needs very little tweeking.

ordered it from ebay
http://stores.ebay.com/USCutter-for-...sub=4133946018

this is the one i am using
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Good-Quality...item3f16e88ee7

just pick the size that suits you the best.

If you have any questions feel free to pm me.

Cheers!
