That sucks. I hope you fix it this time. Car should be a beast when running right.

Currently looking at what it would take to do a de-stroker build. Current Parts list uses off the shelf JE pistons and Callies Compstar Rods. Utilize 4.8 3.265" Crank and a custom cam. I will most likely switch to link bar lifters as well. Need to do more research, but could be fun.

Would go from a 418ci LS3 to a 341ci LS3 lol

Dude that sucks! Hope you finally get everything working the way it needs to. As others have said that thing will be a beast.

Had a friend offer me a K20 for $100, and also looking at a B235R from a Saab 9-5 Aero/Viggen if I don't stay LS. Having a hard time finding a T56 adapter to K series most likely because of the high RPM capability of the T56, or lack thereof. So I would need an adapter + clutch. On the other hand, BMW DCTs are coming down in price... Pretty sure I could get the DCT plus an adapter made for less than the price of a clutch kit, plus adapter, plus faceplating the T56.

This would require me to move to standalone to control the dct, but Syvecs has the ability and even has an ecu for the FRS/BRZ. This makes it a lot easier and gives me great control of everything.

This is one of those "I have no idea what I am doing" threads...

Possibly looking at just selling off my current TSP rotating assembly and building a lightweight high compression 418 package.

I have WAY too many things go through my head and I am terrible at making decisions.

Dustin,

Was already doing the math on a destroked ls.
What blocks, heads, etc. Adds up quick. Got the list at the house but HOT TOD etc have done builds since 2011.

Most say it isn't worth it since the LS can rev to 7k already. Dunno.

Sad to see this happening again to ya. Alot of struggle. It sucks.

Luckily I have a good block and heads, so that cut costs for me (money already spent I guess, so I don't really save it).

Spinning it to 7k isn't worth it, really need to spin it to 8k or higher for it to really shine. Problem is most people are saying you need expensive valvetrain or solid roller set-up to spin it there reliably for a good amount of time. I liked it for the fact I could keep my hp and drop my torque a bit to help with wheel spin and I like the sound of revving it out. Just not worth it with the added cost of valvetrain currently with everything else I have to buy.

added to list of things I might possibly do is just sell off my TSP rotating assembly and cam. Have Brian Tooley Racing spec me a cam, and build a slightly higher compression lightweight rotating assembly. That along with a new oil pump and clutch should take care of any of my current issues and is technically the easiest way to go.

Scat Ultra Q-Lite Rods

Manley Superlight Crank

JE -5cc Flat top pistons (put me somewhere around 11.4:1)

or JE 2.7 Domed Top Piston (put me somewhere around 12.4:1)

King Bearings as they have great reviews and apparently the most consistent tolerances from what I have read.

Agree. Hadn't found a 4.8L FORGED crank yet though off the shelf. 3.170 stroke? off the top of my head.

All 4.8 forged cranks are custom at this point. Brian Tooley has a 3.370” crank listed as “in stock”. So that seems to be the smallest I have found ready to go. Though I didn’t spend too much time searching.

Picked this up from the junkyard over the weekend. Not sure if I will use it, but can't beat junkyard prices for a 2J.
