A few questions...how do you guys paint with toothpicks? I found it extremely hard to use on the lug nuts and wheel face bolts. And is the Tamiya semi gloss black and deep sea grey supposed to be water-y and difficult to lay on?

You can get really fine-tipped brushes. I've found that a fine brush is easier to do detail work with than a toothpick.

Eh, not really planning on building any other models anytime soon, so I don't really want to spend more. I guess I'll try another toothpick that's more pointy. haha.

Dab of paint on tip of toothpick. Wipe some off by touching to paper towel. Sort of roll it on the high points.
Yes both those colours are a bit thin when brushed on. Just do two coats.

I use paint markers. They can be found at any arts store and are about $3-5

hmm, never thought about paint markers. Only experience I have with them are at work, and they're not very precise. haha. But yeah, I'm sure the ones made for arts and crafts are nothing like the ones I use at work.

If you like markers look up the Molotow Liquid Chrome Marker. It is really worth the money for doing all the little details on the fly.

Yep I have one 1 mm and one 2 mm. Can also be sprayed through an airbrush if you get the refill

Had this site bookmarked for some 20 years now. Still a great reference for car modeling tricks.
