sounds fun, please keep us updated with how "practical" the car is for longer trips like these as I'm looking into something similar

Thanks for the invite.

WOW ...... sounds like fun!

I suggest that after you leave New England ....... jump on the interstate, set the cruise control at the speed limit and don't let up till you reach the Rockies ....... then get off the interstate, let up on the gas and look around at everything ......

Oh, my this brings on a back-in-the-miata day story. I might have already told this story ...... but, so what ....!!

A miata.net forum member with a handle of SmittyNC, was from Toronto and had a new miata copper red NC.

He was on a long haul journey through the US.

My wife and I had a new copper red NC and headed out from Seattle on a long western trip.

Now, with all the traveling we lost contact with each other.

Early one morning, we had just reached the top of Pikes Peak (14,100 feet) when we joined a group of about 6 parked cars. I thought the altitude had gotten to me when I saw that one of them was a 2006, copper red, NC, just like mine!

I introduced myself to the driver and said my name was humfrz ....... he said "humfrz from the forum ? ...... I'm Smitty NC".

That was the "high point" of our trip!

THE END

As a Cannonball record holder, I applaud and endorse what you are doing -- which is taking your time and soaking in all the beauty this country has to offer.

Our team entertained the idea of doing 48-state transcontinental record, but after seeing how much I missed out on while trying to speed across the country in 29 hours, I too, wish I could take my time.

Would be interesting to see how the 86 holds up throughout the duration of it.

Should make for a beautiful trip! Drive safe.

Yo your last name isn't Au-Yeung, is it?

This is one of things I'd like to do when I get my BRZ. Curious to hear your experience with your car on a long road trip like this! Any issues, back pains, speed traps, interesting stories?

btw, how are you finding your hotels? Did you plan ahead or just staying at whatever hotel you see when you are tired?

Good luck!
