Test drove a FRS! Walked away..

I'm on preorder for a WRB BRZ since 3/14 and have yet to receive any ETA on delivery dates. After seeing some people already getting their FRS early I decided to call the local Bohn Bro Scion dealership if they would be taking any preorders. I was surprised to learn they had a Raven black MT FRS delivered this morning! I immediately set up a test drive after work.

When I drove up I recognized it right away and let me tell you that the black is stunning in person! What I recognized was that the dealership was charging a $2500 adjusted market value and I got this BS about all cars having AMV's added to their MSRP even the mustangs getting 10k+.

I knew right then that I wasn't going to drive away with the awesome car. But I did take the chance to test drive it. Since I certainly wasn't going to buy the car I didn't have to worry about babying it for the first 1000 miles. The car has no reservations at all to pull quickly to redline and the handling is superb! I loved every minute of it!

Back at the dealership they tried to justify the markup and give me the it's a highly sought after car and you'd be out of luck finding one! I told them straight up that I was #1 at the local subaru dealer waiting patiently for the WRB BRZ that i was promised MSRP so I have a problem paying for an FRS that costs more than the BRZ!

I showed them the shitty job they did at the tint with all the bubbles I could see in all three windows and I would have been willing to pay for the 3M paint guard they installed. I told them about the ft86 members able to get all their cars for MSRP so I'm not stupid enough to fall for any adjusted market value regardless of pure pricing. If they had agreed to sell at MSRP they came very close to stealing me away from a BRZ only because they had it first. I have no preference between the two. The platform is THAT good for me to buy a Scion. The added price was just the turn off. I hope Bohn Bros Scion and all other dealerships realize how important it is to keep the price at the mid 20's for it to be successful in the long term. That's my rant.

Thanks for walking away. I have done the same and I will do it again if need be when my BRZ arrives in 2 weeks. Although this is a limited production car I know there will always be another BRZ out there so I will not make the mistake of thinking if I don't act on the car immediately I'll miss my chance. I know plenty of dealerships getting 2-4 cars none of which is spoken for. MANY people do not know this car exists.

Bohn Bros Scion has been blacklisted.

Don't fall for the silliness folks, adjusted market value is unethical.

Everyone needs to walk awa from mark ups. We can't let them use the hype of the car to rip us off. I would rather wait a few months than have a shady dealer try to fuck me over.

When I read the thread title I thought you meant you drove it and was unimpressed. I was like "Say whaaaaaaaa?"

Yeah, don't pay a penny over MSRP or you're a sucker. Period.

The brz blacklist is for dealers who pull a bait and switch not the ones who tell you up front there is a market adjustment.

When will this madness end????

Oh I know, when the cars are sitting on the lot for over 90 days because nobody will pay a made up market value adjustment

These cars have a very fair price and there's a profit for the dealer in that msrp. It's not like a Yaris where we make nothing basically.

My eye's literally bugged out when i saw the 28k sticker price! TTL would have easily put it in the 30k OTD! At that price I would have gotten the Limited BRZ with some addon's instead of the premium brz i preordered!

Someone will pay the mark up, trust me. There's a sucker born every minute

I just can't see the point in paying mark up for a mass produced car like this unless I absolutely needed it right now but most people that have been wanting this car has already been waiting at least 1-2 years

Don't just assume they're suckers, early adopters are enthusiasts or elitists, the enthusiasts (ya'll) walk away, elitists have enough money to throw away so they get the car, getting a deal doesnt matter to them, and then the enthusiast buys it off them used in a year when they get bored...its a win-win!

Great news! I found another dealership across the city that received a silver MT FRS at MSRP! No AMV BS! Told the dealer I was happy with the 3M paint guard and had no need to test drive it since I already drove one last night! Took 2 hours to take my new FRS off the lot! 40 minutes was because Geico didn't have the FRS in their systems when I called them up to cover the car lol!
