Arrow NorCal 86 Owners Club: VOTE NOW (Election Poll for Board)

Ok folks it's time to select our leadership based on the discussion we've had in the brainstorming and nominations thread. Please read below and VOTE in the poll above!

PRESIDENT:
Only one candidate remained for the title of President, that is @finch1750 and he was pretty strongly approved in this thread so unless someone raises an procedural objection to simply declaring it, I think we have our new President for the 2014 term! Congratulations to finch.

BOARD:
We have 8 people who have volunteered or were nominated for a position on the Board.

candidates for the Board:
@BigFatFlip (Alameda)
@BunnyRZed (Sacramento)
@leicaboss (SF)
@MyRx (San Ramon)
@NorCalGirl (Daly City)
@PMok (Hayward)
@sdlynx (Merced)
@1SIKFRS (Hayward/Fairfield/Vallejo)

Based on previous discussions, we would like to select 4 people. So that with the President we would have a total of 5 Board members. This poll will be open until Friday at midnight. Please VOTE FOR ONLY 4 CANDIDATES. Voting for more than 4 will simply dilute your vote.[/B]

The top 4 candidates, assuming they agree to deposit the $50 into the club fund, will be serving on the Board for a 1 year term. Those candidates who are not selected, I will say in advance thank you for volunteering and we still hope to have you participate in or assist the Board in some way, now or in the future.

The 1 year term for both the President and the Board will begin March 1, 2014 and end March 1, 2015.

Candidates, feel free to post a statement or introduction to yourself below for the voters to consider before voting (Please do so ASAP).

Candidates statements or other miscellaneous details. I apologize, I realize I should have given candidates a little more advance notice to prepare a statement.
Here are some of the key statements made by these candidates in the previous brainstorm thread -- will be updated if they post further here:

BigFatFlip: I am genuinely flattered but, knowing that I may have larger obligations coming my way (as some of you may well know) I think it would be best that I concede to whomever is closest. I will, ofcourse, remain active and help out as much as I can.

BunnyRZed: Hey guys/gals, my name is Randy. Please see full statement below. I want to share my enthusiasm with all 86/BRZers out there. I look forward to help build this great community. Thanks for your consideration.

leicaboss: Hey all, I'm David. Please see full statement below. looking forward to being able to help the community out in some capacity.

MyRx: Don't elect MyRx for any position or title. He's horrible at taking office or such positions. He's deferring his consulship to someone who actually wants to do good for NorCal haha. [President Finch however has insisted MyRx be nominated.]

NorCalGirl: I can help out when I'm in town out here in Daly City and am here every other week… the opposite week I'm up in the Oregon/Washington area. I am hoping to get to know the Northwest 86 Owners and possibly serve as a liason between the NorCal and Northwest communities if we have any events

PMok: Hi. Thanks for reading, thanks for voting. Please see full statement below.

sdlynx: I'll help where I can in the Central Valley. I'm willing to coordinate with the Central Valley folks if you want to include us.

1SIKFRS: My name is Mark. I own a Raven 13' 86. Originally from the Subaru scene and known as STI RUSH on the suby boards. Mainly present in Hayward, Pleasant Hill, Benicia, Vallejo and Fairfield and Travis AFB. I have coordinated or helped coordinate meets, bbq's, install days Fairfield/Vallejo/Pleasant Hill. I'm open to donating and volunteering.

here is my statement.

Hi my name is Plato Mok and I believe many of you know me from the local meets. I am a pretty active member on these forums and one of the co-founders of NorCal 86 DRIVE, a local club and website devoted to driving and our community. Hopefully many of you have visited 86DRIVE.com, the site that I manage and update. It’s primary purpose is to serve as a communication channel to share news, upcoming events, and coverage of recent drives, and part of that is the Events Calendar where you can find in one place, details on upcoming meets, drives, and other events. So I hope you’ve taken advantage of that as a resource and encourage you to check out the site if you haven’t already done so. I’ve helped plan meets and taken part in many over the years, being a participant in the MR2, Lexus and Toyota communities before joining and becoming a part of this one. I also lead the drives pretty frequently and have a few key principles in everything that I do: Have fun, safely, while respecting others. Some of my other interests besides cars and driving include dabbling in photography, graphic design, computer gaming and target shooting. And I could go on and on but in the interests of being somewhat brief (I am known to get long-winded) I will stop here and say thanks for reading, thanks for voting.

Hey all, I'm David.

Grew up in LA, studied in Boston, and living/working in SF - as I have always intended! As a relatively new owner of a ZN6, I am happy that we have a community like this - one that is fun, engaging, and informative.

While it's great that the twins have made it very, very accessible for people to get an opportunity to own a legitimate sports car (superb handling, at that) - I am saddened by the thought that many owners either don't know about such welcoming enthusiast groups or even realizing simply how fun their car is, and learning to appreciate it on a different level. That being said, I think this group can be a great platform for not only involving current members, but reaching out and helping people learn more.

I come from a marketing background and have worked both on the corporate side and agency side - I am very interested in the arts, and I am no stranger to design and photography (humble brag: a few of my photos of made it to the front of flickr before!).

As far as experience goes in the "online enthusiast" area, I am the co-founder of Panerai Central, a site dedicated to a specific brand of timepieces - our Instagram fanbase has recently exceeded 28,000 followers and our site has received visitors from over a 120 countries.

Anyhow - looking forward to being able to help the community out in some capacity.

Hey guys/gals, my name is Randy. Like many who grew up watching Initial D, I got hooked on the idea of light weight, under powered, rear wheel drive coupe (Toyota Sprinter Trueno/AE86). It proved that you didn't need massive horsepower to have fun or be fast on the Touge. In 2009 Toyota announced the spiritual successor to the original AE86 the FT-86 and subsequently the FT-86II concept, I knew it was worth the wait. My dream finally came true after Christmas in 2012 when I picked up my BRZ.

This was a new car at the time so I started a thread to help gather local enthusiasts around the Great Sacramento Area and today we have about 30+ locals in the area. I have helped organized a few local meets in our area. With the help of other locals (@Byoki, @Pwolf, @krzhachiroku) we just got our monthly meet setup.

I want to share my enthusiasm with all 86/BRZers out there. I look forward to help build this great community.

My Interests: cars, computers, technology, science

This poll will close on 03-01-2014 at 01:40 AM
(that's exactly 48 hours from when I opened the poll)

as the great Al Capone once said, "Vote early, vote often."

just kidding, please vote one time only -- for 4 candidates.

It appears that with 29 voters and 98 total votes, many people have gone with a total of using 3 votes only haha!

Edit: Specifically 3.379

Just to get this out of the way, in the event of a tie for 4th position I would say a single day run off between the tied candidates takes place tomorrow.

Yes, hopefully judging by the number of voters that have participated already, most people have realized they need to view this thread in a web browser and not via tapatalk in order to vote. But good point to raise in case anyone has been wondering how to vote via Tapatalk.

Sorry to hear you won't join us on the board Bryan, but of course we wish you all the best and look forward to still seeing you around.

First off, I would like to thank all the members of the Norcal Owners Club (NOC) that have participated in this process. The goal was to create an open dialog regarding the future of our club and I believe this has been accomplished. In particular I would like to thank @leicaboss, @sdlynx, @1SIKFRS, and @BigFatFlip for their participation as candidates for the NOC board. I hope to see all of you in the future and I know we would be lucky to have you as volunteers in other capacities to help make Norcal the best experience possible for our members.

I would also like to give a special thanks to @PMok for creating the brainstorming thread along with this one to get this whole thing off the ground. He has once again shown what an asset he is to our community.

With that said CONGRATULATIONS! I would like to officially introduce the 2014 NOC Board

@PMok
@MyRx
@BunnyRZed
@NorCalGirl

I welcome each of you and cannot wait to begin planning the year ahead. I will be contacting each of you very soon (ie tomorrow, because I'm too damn tired tonight. Lol) regarding contact info so we can get to work. I would like to meet soon as there is a lot of work to be done and we have some great momentum to build off of.

Once again I would like to thank everyone who participated in the conversation to help create this new direction for Norcal and look forward to seeing all of you at future meets and hope to work side by side with many of you as well as volunteers from this community is what will make us successful moving forward.

To my fellow 86 owners,
Words cannot express how grateful I am for all of your support, I greatly appreciate your participation and enthusiasm in this entire process. I look forward to working with Mr. President Finch and the Board to help build and represent this community the best way I can. Thank so you much to my fellow candidates for offering their time and efforts as well, whether or not you are "officially" on the Board I welcome you to provide input, and continue to offer your help if you can, we all respect and appreciate what you've already done for the community by taking part in this early stage of our community's growth.

I hope to see you all soon, whether on the streets, at the meets, on the drives or at the track!
