Air suspension - is it still only for stance nation?

I've been reading a little bit on air suspension for this platform.

It actually offers some great options. Ride height adjustability obviously, but firmness as well. They also now claim you can track your car on it.

I very much like the idea of raising/lowering the car from the cabin.

I see Airlift offer a kit that also comes with camber tops for the front.

Opinions on them?

I've never like the air suspension in any car. It does provide cool features and comfortable driving experience, but I'm not sure how it will do on track. I'm pretty sure the R&D on air suspension has improved to be durable in any road type, but it is still holding air in a expandable rubber casing. Ehhh, there is still possibility of blowing the rubber.

Those kits are more ideal for the show guys who want to slam it to the gorund in a parking lot, then air it up to cruise.

Not really ideal for a guy looking to do track or autocross.

I highly doubt anyone could possibly burst a suspension airbag with this car... considering this technology has been used on semi trucks holding upwards of 80,000 lbs. I'm waiting to see how good the Damptronics system being developed for our car really is because it's either going to be that or an airbag setup for me because the idea of adjusting the suspension from inside the cabin seems priceless to me.

Consider most semi-trailers out there ride on air bags . Regular struts can blow and they do too.

I'm highly considering bags, it would be a blast to go up to 4x4 height in snow and slam it in summer... I'd probably go custom though not like that one in the video.

I am running the Airlift Suspension in my car. It's great camber top plates, 30 way dampers on all four corners and adjustable sleeves. I can go 2 inches above stock height or 4 inches below stock. There are things you have to be careful with and watch. First and foremost the airlines. If you rub one and it causes a leak you will lose air and with out air you have basically a blown strut until the line is fixed. The second is the air bag itself make sure you don't rub on the bags. If you rub on the bag it will blow. So make sure you leave some room with the tire size. Last but not least the compressor. Almost all of the compressors out there today will last a long time but from time to time they do go out and with no compressor no air. I have mine dialed in where i can air out the car and still drive it. This way if something does fail i can at least make off the road or back home depending on where i am.

Now for some pictures:

Last but not least i won lowest subaru at this years Big NW Subaru meet. 46 inches Below is link to the video of my limbo.

Thanks for the complement guys. This beast wont look the same in the next few months. Some major body work and wide body kit going on it along with a wrap color change.

One side note i didn't go with Airlift's tank or compressor. I went with Ridetech's Airpod Management. Everything is plumbed all you have to do i run 3 wires and the airlines. Also Ridetech has been around for over 30 years doing air suspension on hot rods so that was another major factor for me.
