General manager came back from a conference and a few things happened. 1. someone had covid and caused it to spread. 2. we will probably go back to enforcing masks at the gym again in the near future.

If that disparity is due to lack of access, the graph may even be highlighting the persistence of racist policy. I'm pretty sure that's a problem here in Chicago which has been given some attention. I don't know whether access is the only problem.

Again, it is an aggregate analysis so it doesn't control for SES or Education (both of which are related to voting choice) but I'd bet the result would hold regardless._
this is the article for those interested btw

i'll try to keep it simple-- i dug into that specific picture, and it's article, for a post, as i got really curious if the gap had a correlation to the number of votes for either candidate in the 2020 election. despite trying to keep to the raw facts/numbers, it got really political really fast, and didn't want to anger the mods again, so i abandoned it.

suffice it to say that the election was really close by the actual votes cast, and that chart had a larger disparity in difference, indicating a number of other factors. i think the end of the article summarized/theorized the disparity better than i could.

lthough there has been an overall significant slow-down in COVID-19 vaccination rates in the U.S., these findings show a widening divide of communities at risk for COVID-19 along partisan lines. A key component of any effort to boost vaccination rates among Republicans will be identifying the right messengers. According to our Vaccine Monitor, which tracks the public’s attitudes and experiences with COVID-19 vaccinations, Republicans are most likely to trust their doctors and employers to provide reliable information on COVID-19 vaccines, while government sources are less trusted. Going forward, efforts that focus on these messengers, including President Biden’s recent announcement to augment vaccination distribution through doctor’s offices, may help, but there is a hardcore group of vaccine resisters who are disproportionately Republican and will be difficult to move.
really though, what i'm choosing to take away from all this is that they're simply ranking 2 public forms of data-sets against each other to draw a conclusion, though the last paragraph leans towards indicating to me that it might be faulty to draw a conclusion from comparing those 2 datasets.

it's no different than if we would poll all of the states to learn the vaccination rate of those that listen to classic rock vs. rap.

I think those are two of the most important points they are making. But, the longstanding specter of racism looms over many of the attitudes folks of color have about government and their willingness to believe/trust what they are told. The big difference is that, unlike many of their white contemporaries, the grievances held by non-whites are generally grounded on reality.

Unless they realize that the fact is America's first black president could not have been elected without white voters.

All this talk about racism should be considered when applied to institutional racism defined by the current Administration's support for Critical Race Theory that rewrites history to demonize whites, the Declaration of Independence, and the Constitution, but I digress into politics so will stop.

So unfortunate that it's come to this but like I said to @Dadhawk, it's more a working political strategy to divide rather than unite us.

the implication of the data/graph as they present it says that 'x' isn't getting vaccinated because they do 'y'. but neither is inclusive. there's no definitive correlation-- if there were, the voting record for the last election should line up closer with the vaccination rate for the parties. and it doesn't.

Easy to understand graph, unless you're colourblind, so here's an explanation: The 'red' bit is the uptake, the 'green' no uptake...

Now I'm worried because I don't see any red in that graph!

I'm not sure what you're trying to say with the first bit. With the second bit you're over the line and repeating talking points intended to quash progress and enforce the status quo if not regress. It does not rewrite history: that's a straight-up falsehood. And it shines a light on the demons; it does not creat them.

A veterinarian told me she did not have reason to believe that Covid19 affects house pets. This was when I brought a recently re-homed 10.5 month old cat in for shots and neutering last month. Apparently it is affecting some larger zoo animals though. San Diego zoo:
