You're charged a restocking fee because you bought the wrong thing, and it costs them time and money to deal with your mistake.

Paying for their time on your mistake is reasonable.

Yeah lol I did kept the stuff turned out I actually like the lights lol. But still it's the first time I've heard of restocking fee. Still think it's weird since idk any other place that charges that fee.

It's getting less common. Mostly botiques still charge this.

So you want them to pay for your mistake?

Every time someone buys something and returns it, there is a charge to the merchant. Labor, time, rent, even the actual credit card refund.

Most people don't even know that when you process a refund, the merchant still pays for it. It's a very small percentage, but if you bought something, decided to return it, and got a 100% refund, the merchant would've still paid some money to the credit card processor.

Maybe you don't understand it but just because you don't see it doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

They post this so that in case a customer is abusive and buys $10k of items and return it without a valid reason, they have backup in case it goes to court or a dispute.

In practice, if you are nice with Amazon they won't even bring it up.

Smaller merchants have a restocking fee to not be impacted in a big way if a return was made. Larger merchants can just soak it up as a cost of doing business.

While accurate, it also reflects how Amazon "sells" products.

My work is now an Amazon Prime fulfillment warehouse, and everything in our inventory is "sold by us" and ships under Prime for free. Many returns fall under this category.

But if you want the actual Amazon "in our warehouse" return and restocking fee policy:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/help/custo...deId=201819300

More lenient but still subject to restocking fees.

nov. 11, 2016 update
They acknowledge mistakes in sending, therefore a USPS sending to Italy was done as gift, no custom feeds might be settled here. (I hope).
Only requirements is return back the part or destroy it. I destroyed it and sent a picture to David.
Right part is on travel to me (now Chicago Metro, USPS facility center).

RATING AAA+++
usual US QoS.

Yay, happy results. I'd go ahead and edit your original post to show the resolution, and as a mod to add "RESOLVED:" to the beginning of the thread title.
